ST. LOUIS - SEPTEMBER 12: Ron Bartell #24 of the St. Louis Rams attempts to pick off a pass intended for Larry Fitzgerald #11 of the Arizona Cardinals during the NFL season opener at the Edward Jones Dome on September 12 2010 in St. Louis Missouri. With all the bad news the St. Louis Rams have dealt with this season, it's about time that something good happened. Something good happened today when cornerback Ron Bartell showed up at practice, his brace gone and neck healed from the broken vertebrae he suffered in the season opener.
Howard Balzer reported this on twitter.
Some good news for Rams: CB Ron Bartell out of neck brace. Bone is healed. Didn't need surgery. Said he is definitely playing next season..For those that don't remember, Ron Bartell injured his neck against the Philadelphia Eagles. Before that, the Rams lost Jerome Murphy for the season in training camp. Following the Bartell injury, many other Rams would follow suit and end up on IR.
Next season, the Rams will be returning their three best corners. Two of those, Bradley Fletcher and Ron Bartell, have become injury magnets in their careers. Murphy hasn't been injured as often, but the jury is still out if he will become a good player.
The Rams have to decide if Ron Bartell is worth bringing back this season and beyond. He is owed $6 million in 2012, the last year of his current contract; Bradley Fletcher's rookie contract ends in 2013.
It will be shocking if the Rams don't draft or add another quality corner in the off-season.

Re: Ron Bartell Healed
Best news I've heard all season, I still wouldn't rule out getting a corner like Claiborne though but I think we can find solid corners in the later rounds.

Re: Ron Bartell Healed
Im very pleased to see he has no ill effects. I'll be looking forward to seeing Bartell back next season. God, the Rams missed this guy this year, made worse because of Justin King. It also may let the Rams go a different way than CB, in the draft, and free agency. So its good to know that the roster will not have another hole to fill. ?
The Rams will have a decision to make regarding his contract, six million a year does seem a little too much, for someone who gets injured this much.?Last edited by GROUND DOG 39; -12-16-2011 at 06:20 PM.

Bradley Fletcher is an injury magnet?

Re: Ron Bartell Healed
I disagree with the injury 'magnet' tag for Fletch but I am anxious to see if he can come back from two serious knee injuries and be the standout corner we hoped he would become.
Very glad to see Bartell is healed. On the other hand, that IS a lot of money ....If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.

Re: Ron Bartell Healed
This is indeed great news. I just hope Bartell does whatever it takes over the next several months to gain complete confidence in making hits without worrying about the neck.

Great news! Hope to bring him back next year. He is solid for the most part. Most underrated CB in the league!

Physically but what about psychologically?

Re: Ron Bartell Healed
With the Rams current overall situation, IMHO RBartell should just take the rest of the season off, really recuperate, then prepare and come back strong next year, starting with spring workouts or whatever medical strategy is best for him.
Very important aspect of healing.Physically but what about psychologically? -- LA Rammer

Re: Ron Bartell Healed
Man I cant wait. When I read this same news I got on a text I was ecstatic. One of my favourite Rams. I'd like to see how everyone else is coming along. I bet Murphy and Bartell could go tomorrow if it was the first game of the season.
