Ronald Bartell confirms his season is over
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 13, 2011, 3:13 PM EDT
Getty ImagesRams cornerback Ronald Bartell plans to continue his career despite breaking a bone in his lower neck, but it’s not going to happen this year.
“There’s absolutely no way I could come back and play this year,” Bartell said via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “It takes time just for the bone to heal.”
The Rams may have overpaid Bartell a few years ago to keep him away from New Orleans, but he’s a solid NFL starter. The Rams were only carrying four cornerbacks and fellow starter Bradley Fletcher suffered a minor injury too, so St. Louis may have to sign a few players.
“My goal is to play again. I’m fully prepared to play again. I’m approaching it as such that I will play again,” Bartell said.
Thankfully, Bartell did not re-enter Sunday’s loss. He didn’t feel like the injury was serious, and tried to play. The Rams didn’t let him.
A defeated look of consternation, dissappointment, or even pain. The name derives from the look one often gets when challenged by a large BM.

What a shame! Ron seemed to be developing better after each season. This was sure to be his year to make the Pro Bowl. Maybe hopefully, he can make it back in time for the Rams playoff run.

Re: Ronald Bartell confirms his season is over
That is sad news indeed for The Rams but a great relief that they handled it the right way & that it could have been so much worse for Ron. All the best for a full recovery & many thanks for being a real warrior over the last few years.

Wow, that's a bummer.
Thank God that didn't let that guy back in."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Wow huge blow to our secondary. Wish him a fast and healthy recovery. We can't afford these injuries with this tough schedule!
