ROTD: The 50s
The loss of Isaac Bruce has made me feel sentimental about the Rams' past, so I thought I'd start a series of polls to have the Clan elect the "Ram of the Decade" for each decade starting with the 1950s (also, its a good way to pass the time during the offseason.
The rules are as follows: to be eligible, a player must have been with the Rams for either (1) five or more seasons within the decade, or (2) six or more seasons total, and at least four seasons within the decade. I'll narrow each decade down to five nominees.
So, who is the Ram of the 50s (1950-1959)?

The Dutchman won the last NFL Championship before the 1999 SB.

Re: ROTD: The 50s
I voted Crazy legs, but I feel my vote is unfair. I really don't know many of the other guys and only know crazy legs after seeing an NFL films show with a story on him.
This is asking alot AV but whats the chances of maybe having some links to go along with the players? No worries if it can't be done. I am pretty guud at guessing!

Re: ROTD: The 50s
There's plenty of info on these guys on the web. If this thread prompts you to do a little research, all the better.

Re: ROTD: The 50s
TOM FEARS:
Drafted by Cleveland RAMS (11th round, 103rd overall) as a defensive back.
Played Defense, TE, Kicker, Punter and WR.
1- time Pro Bowler, 5- time All-Pro.
1st player in NFL history to line up on the line of scrimmage away from the tackle thus making him the 1st WR in NFL History.
Set RAMS reception record with 77 catches in 1949. Then reset the record the following season with 84 receptions and a league leading 1,116 yards.
Voted into the NFL Hall Of Fame 1970.
I voted for TOM FEARS.

Au contraire, mi buen amigo! :l
TX, you know? My Rams part of life consists of ClanRam, Rams games, and Rams research, all in varying order of importance. Sometimes for the fun of it, other times because I just can't resist my Ram curiosity: books, Internet, old magazines ... even a bit of my own, old Rammemory!
Truly outstanding names you have, AV, for ROTD -- 1950s, all four. Tough call, as is always the case when chosing among Ram greats but thanks for this and subsequent ROTD polls.
This time I went with Tom Fears for ... being a paisano of mine. :bash:

Hard to argue with any of them. Fears reminds us how specialized players are today.
Hey RealRam, was Fears a fellow countryman?

" Sí señor", Fears was born in the state of Jalisco, México (his mom also a mexican national). I'm from northern México, born in Chihuahua.

Where in the NW do you reside now? I'm in Spokane. My mistake. When you said paisano, I took it to mean you were Italian, but Mexico is close enough for me.

Re: ROTD: The 50s
Both in NW Mexico (Chihuahua and/or Sonora) and NW Oregon.
In Spanish ' paisano' is used with the same frequency and meaning as the Italians do (from French 'paysan' -- compatriot or peasant).

Re: ROTD: The 50s
My post suggesting that Tank Younger should have been in the poll has been deleted? You know, it isn't like I was lobbying for laurence Phillips....
