ROTD: The 60s
Okay, we have our Ram of the 50s. By a one-vote margin:
Norm Van Brocklin
Now, who is the Clan's Ram of the 60s?

Re: ROTD: The 60s
I've always been partial to Merlin. I really should send him some flowers.

Wow -- as tough to choose as they were tough to play against! :bash:
:r Sentimental favorite from my 1st Ram era: The Roman General (1962-1972)

Re: ROTD: The 60s
Gotta go w/ Deacon. Can I go ahead and vote for Youngblood now? Av should take all the winners of the ROTD, and have a vote for 'all time Ram'. (hint) It'll be Youngblood .... by a mile. :r

Re: ROTD: The 60s
Went with Gabriel but for me, Olsen and Jones are so closely behind and between those two awesone DL? ...A tossup!
One of the all-time best DTs in NFL history and then ditto on the Deacon as DE.
Dwight, I hear you -- Jack Blood was a DE man among DE men, no doubt. But he came in just a little later.

Re: ROTD: The 60s
What a tough decision. Even if you would have made Offensive and Defensive categories I am still not sure. So many stars in the '60's decade.
But...., with my avatar I had to go with Gabriel. I can still remember listening to Dick Enberg describing Gabe's heroics as he pulled out one after another late 4th quarter win.
Go Rams!

Re: ROTD: The 60s
Yes, the 60's is tough, but I had to go with David "Deacon" Jones, slightly over Roman Gabriel .

Nice avatar too. Gabriel, 1969 NFL MVP -- it was a very good year. :l

Re: ROTD: The 60s
Can't go wrong with the Master of the headslap and of the first, if not the first, to coin the word "sack", plus the unofficial all time sack leader, Deacon Jones #75.

Re: ROTD: The 60s
ok im 32 so dont usually comment on players that i didnt actually see play in the flesh however its the off-season and im bored so its a toss up between Merlin & Deacon...you could say that well Deacon left but as far as im aware that was something he found out about after the deal was struck to trade him and he was gutted about it...i think if what i heard was correct he found out during a team mates wedding..??
Didn`t M.O get to something like 14 out of 14 pro bowls...before it became the Pop Bowl??
thats pretty impressive...ah,am torn...not gonna say,its a vote so i`ll keep my selection secret!

Re: ROTD: The 60s
Dang, I'm torn between Deacon and Roman.
I will give Deacon a very slight edge though, he gets my vote.

Re: ROTD: The 60s
Haven't seen any of these guys play, but I do know that Deacon paved the way for DEs now. Unofficial sack leader and coining the word sack. I gave him the vote.

Re: ROTD: The 60s
maybe we could put the fearsome foursome together as one vote and then they could all be included so none of them were left out and we wouldn't have to pick one over the other, they were really awesome as a unit.
