ROTD: The 70s
Okay, so far...
1950s: Norm Van Brocklin
1960s: David "Deacon" Jones
Who is the Ram of the 70s?
(Note: Under my original criteria, Nolan Cromwell will be in the 1980s, notwithstanding that his best years were in the late 1970s.)

This one may be a shutout.

Yeah. I think it will be, at a minimum, a landslide.
Should get more interesting when we get to the 80s, 90s and 00s.

Agreed. The closer we get to modern time, the more divided these votes may get.
And the good news is, we'll finally get to have that Warner vs. Bulger debate we've been wanting to have for years now.

ROTD, The 70s -- can't go wrong with Jack Blood. Runner-up, The Mack Truck. :r

Re: ROTD: The 70s
There can be no question on this. Jack Youngblood.
I saw him in a game against Detroit, I think, where I thought he was going to twist a QB head off.
It had been a tough game and the Rams ended up losing but not before Jack grabbed the QB by the face mask and swung him around like a rag doll.
The man played on a Broken Leg.
He is the reason I am a Rams fan.

Re: ROTD: The 70s
I hate to be a "follower", but it's got to be Jack Youngblood...the first Ram jersey I ever purchased (at the age of 12)...and one of my all time favorite Rams.
Something you may not have known...not only did he play the entire 1979-1980 playoffs with a broken leg, but he also showed up for the Pro Bowl and played that.
Can you imagine any of taday's prima donnas doing that?
Youngblood missed 1 game in his 14 year career. I could go on and on.
One of the greatest defensive ends ever!

Re: ROTD: The 70s
Because this poll is so one-sided, I'm going to post the ROTD 80s poll now. That one should be a bit more interesting.
I'll leave this one up, though, just in case there's a late run of Lawrence McCutchen votes!

Re: ROTD: The 70s
Jack Youngblood by a landslide. Too bad too because Saul, Mack, McCutchen, and Brooks were all great players.

Re: ROTD: The 70s
Before I clicked on this thread, I though; "Jack Youngblood, of course". ...and I was not surprise to see the results.
I'm still one of those that thinks the 70's were the glory years for the Rams. They may not have gotten the Ring during the decade, but it was their best decade for consistancy and success, and a time when the franchise was feared and respected. If not for some bad calls in the playoffs, a couple of lucky deep catches from the Steelers in SB XIV....
There were many great heroes during the 80's wearing the yellow and blue, but Jack was THE man.
