Re: ROTD: The 70s

Having watched the Rams back in the '70's many of you don't appreciate the talent of Tom Mack who labored in obscurity, as most OL lineman did back then. Tom was one of the best pulling guards ever to play the game and he was rewarded with a HOF entry. Rich Saul was also a rock-steady center whom we would be fortunate to have on the team of course up-to-date in terms of weight and size.

I did vote for Jack Youngblood because he represented the toughness that got us to our first Super Bowl.

Go Rams!:r

Re: ROTD: The 70s

Ya know, I understand the love for Youngblood...who wouldn't. McCutchen had that certain flair about him that I liked.

Re: ROTD: The 70s

Before I announce my vote and why, I must say that I am hurt by the none mention on your list of yours truly. I mean, sure, I wasn't there when they got to the Super Bowl, but I like to think that my intense, albeit limited, contribution during training camp in 1979 had SOMETHING to do with it!

I have two distinct memories of training camp regarding two of the gentlemen you list. McCutchen loaned me $200.00 (actually he just gave it to me refusing to accept repayment), and Youngblood punching me in my face mask, knocking me on my butt during practice. Nod goes to McCutchen. Classy, soft spoken man and a greatly under appreciated talent.
