ROTD: The 80s
This one should be a bit more competitive...
Also, I'm going to make the executive decision to increase the finalists to seven, as I think there are a lot of worthy candidates.

Re: ROTD: The 80s
134 starts of 154 total games in the decade. All-Pro 6 of the 10 years in that decade.
Gotta be Jackie.

Re: ROTD: The 80s
I went with Slater too. Though ED was more spectacular, his run with the team was the shortest among the nominees. Slater was an anchor for the entire decade.

Very true AV, E.D. only played 4 full seasons for us but it seemed like a full decade.

Re: ROTD: The 80s
A tough one for between Jackie and ED. I have to tip my hat to Mr. Slater though. 20 years in the trenches, same team, great attitude. I even picked his number for the plate of my motorcycle! Tough choice though...

Re: ROTD: The 80s
Yes, great Ram names were produced in the 80's. My vote also went to Jackie Slater.
20 loyal years with the Rams. Helped pave the road for seven 1,000 yard runners (including Dickerson). One of the strongest, most durable drive blockers the game has seen. To think he fought in the trenches those two decades, successfully...a true old-school ironman.
Like MoonJoe, I too was hesitant for a minute between Slater and Dickerson but IMHO, Jackie takes the cake for his length of play, his leadership and his character.
:bash: Jackie Slater, a BIG RAM! ...Thanks AV for these excellent ROTDs.

Re: ROTD: The 80s
It was between Slater & Dickerson. But I had to go with Dickerson.

Re: ROTD: The 80s
Its really close right now, i went with ED. I know he wasnt there nearly as long as Slater but it was the choice i made. Its going to be interesting to se who wins this decade.

Re: ROTD: The 80s
No doubt a difficult / exciting choice between Slater and Dickerson. What Jackie had in durability and consistency, Eric had in style -- and yards!
You're right, Tampa, this one will be very interesting. :r

The one vote for Everett was cast by Jim Rome.

Re: ROTD: The 80s
I thought it was a draw amongst three of the finalist, personally. ..but in the end, I went with the guy that had the most direct impact on the team, and that was ED. Although Jackie provided the blocking that helped, ED was one of the best I've ever seen carry the rock. What almost swayed my decision was the way he left, and the years he spent in a Ram's uni. I would honestly say Mr. Ellard is also in that elite group. Performance, consistancy, character. He had it all, like Jackie. Both great, great Rams.
But when it's all said and done, it's hard to deny ED. If he could have stayed, perhaps a ring would have been had.
