    The rules on a safety-end zone INT today

    can someone explain to me why the Rams werent awarded a safety after sammy threw the int in the end zone. Shields clearly tried to run the ball out and was tackled. I guess the rule is that since he never made it into the field of play it cant be a safety, but i am not sure about that. Someone please clarify.

    By the way, i heard on the radio that Jason Smith had a false start on the way into the locker room.

    Bingo. Shields never crossed the goalline after making the interception, so tackling him in the endzone isn't a safety.
