RUMOR: Rams shopping CB Fletcher for help at defensive tackle?

    Two sources...

    Jim Thomas: https://twitter.com/jthom1/status/241630893985366017

    Howard Balzer: https://twitter.com/HBalzer721/statu...41871716253696

    More from Thomas:
There have been indications also that the team could be shopping cornerback Bradley Fletcher in a trade. It looks like rookie Trumaine Johnson has earned the nickel back _ or third cornerback _ job. And if Fletcher is at best the fourth corner on the roster, they may not be willing to pay his $1.2 million base salary in what is the final year of his contract.

I understand why they'd like help at DT while Brockers is out, but if they deal Fletcher what's the plan when a CB goes down? Maybe I'm just paranoid from last year, but I don't really like the idea of trading even the 4th best QB on the team.

    Interesting...

If true, I guess they are comfortable with Jerome Murphy in the No. 4 slot.

Personally, I would've preferred to keep Josh Gordy anyway, so hopefully it works out.

It's so funny how in sports 1 injury pleagued season turns you from a great young promising rising star to bench warming trade bait

Sad to see i was looking forward to see fletcher grow...well we have Trumaine Johnson and Jenkins now!

i`d prefer them to get a Free Agent in than to trade a player of Fletchers talent. Brockers might not be out that long and then whoever we trade him for will become a back up.

i don`t think we will get good value for him in a trade..only Spags in New Orleans i think will understand how good the kid is and i`m not sure what they currently have at DT after the cuts etc..

If they go through with this I think it's a sign we won't be seeing Brockers anytime soon. Not because the injury is that serious... I just think they aren't going to rush him back and risk making it worse.

Coming off his second major knee surgery ? Exactly how much of a player would a team trade for that ?

I'm fully in favor of going after an upgrade or replacement for Laws, rather than just waiver wire meat to fill in for Brockers. Wouldn't mind a better DE than either Hayes or Sims, for that matter. That's a biiiiig drop-off.

I wish Fisher and Les would show the same urgency in fixing the offensive line as they are showing to address the depth and replacement for Brockers.

I don't want to trade Fletcher, we are finally deep in one unit and now we are going to trade them for rotation guys, and late draft picks. Bite the bullet play Jermelle Cudjo, who has played well so far. Pick up a vet to fill the DT spot.

Personally, I'm not comfortable with anything less than 14 cornerbacks on the roster.

Nobody is going to trade a difference maker (at DT) for Fletcher. There should be a myriad of mediocre, warm bodies on the street after roster paring.

Re: RUMOR: Rams shopping CB Fletcher for help at defensive tackle?

There's no doubt Brockers will be gone for a while. If Sam Bradford was feeling the effects of his high ankle sprain as recently as training camp, you can bet a 300 pounder will certainly test our patience.

But while I thought trading Bradley Fletcher for DT help made sense yesterday, the releasing of Jerome Murphy changes that a bit.

didn`t want him traded as expressed before the Murphy cut. there`s no way it should happen now.

Re: RUMOR: Rams shopping CB Fletcher for help at defensive tackle?

If Fletcher can stay healthy, he has upside and the potential to be a good starter. He didn't fare poorly before in that role and he's still young with room for improvement.

If he gets moved, I hope it's not for something like a 2017 7th rounder.
