Re: S. Davis at Rams park, getting a physical?

I loved Steve Davis. It will be bittersweet to see him again in BOA.

Re: S. Davis at Rams park, getting a physical?

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Former Carolina Panthers running back Stephen Davis worked out with the Rams and was given a physical in St. Louis on Wednesday.

Coach Scott Linehan did not talk about Davis following the Rams' practice and was unavailable for comment. The results of Davis' workout and physical are unknown.

Davis worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday and the Washington Redskins are also thought to be interested in retaining the back who played for the Redskins from 1996-2002. Davis spent the past three seasons with the Panthers. He played in 13 games and gained 549 yards during the 2005 season, a year after playing in just two games in 2004.

The Rams' running back situation appeared set three weeks ago after Moe Williams was signed to fill a hole left by Marshall Faulk, who is likely done for his career with knee problems. Williams seemed set for the No. 3 spot and Tony Fisher, signed during the offseason, moved to the No. 2 slot behind starter Steven Jackson.

Jackson was limited the past three days because of tendentious in his heels, Linehan said it is not a long-term problem

I don't even care about this guy to be honest, it'd be cool to have him on the team, sounds like a good player and all, but honestly... all I worry about is Steven Jackson, and I hope Linehan is right about his injury.

jackson has to be hurt more than what rams officials are leading on.. why else would we sign steven davis???? moe williams is a similiar back, tony fisher can be used on third down so you know it could work out..

The Rams are reportedly ready to make a contract offer to Stephen Davis.

He again passed a physical. It's curious that St. Louis is loading up on slow veteran runners; maybe Steven Jackson's Achilles isn't as healthy as he's let on. Davis might cut into Jackson's short-yardage carries.

Hmmm. Most intriguing. Perhaps Coaches Linehan & Olsen are about to make up their mind in terms of selecting the best back-up RB there is right now, just in time to learn-and-make the team.

RB Steven Jackson (I'm not concerned about the "mystery" seriousness of injury).
RB Steven Davis, a considerably productive veteran.
RB Tony Fisher, situational / 3rd down runner.
FB Madison Hedgecock, let's get that ankle fixed!
