Sad end to a breakout season for Long.

If you weren't at the game, Chris Long was ejected from the game with about 2 minutes left for headbutting a 40-Whiner after the play. He has been a bright spot for an abysmal team this year and had to be removed from the game.

Also, why did Spagnuolo elect to punt on our final possession? That doesn't fit in with his philosophy of never giving up and always trying to win.

I can't blame Chris at all for this. His teammates had practically given up at this point, and he was sick and tired of being pushed around. Somebody has to stand up for what is left of this sad sack of a franchise, and what few fans were there to watch and support it.

As for Mike Singlecrappy, I would careless if he got hit by a bus while crossing the street tonight. The fact that his wide receivers had to practically beg to get him to play Bruce, and then seeing this piece of crap blitzing corners and safeties at the end of the game despite the fact that our line was totally depleted is just plain asinine. Tired of looking at the smug piece of crap.

Finally, why did Spags elect to punt? Because he truly has no idea what the hell he is doing. Not to say that he isn't a good motivator, and I am sure he is excellent when it comes to X's and O's, but at this point, he IS NOT a GOOD coach. The season is almost over, and he failed to create any real identity with this group. Do they play hard? Sure. But it was ultimately dissapointing to watch them give up in the last five minutes of this game. Or did the coaches instruct them to do so to secure that #1 pick? Nearly dominant defense for third quarters only to all the sudden let a TE and a WR with average speed get behind the defense for big gains? Letting Gore into the end zone untouched? Either they GAVE UP or the coaches put them in a position to fail.

Watching the first half of this game today, I was very excited to see the effort being put out on the defensive side of the ball.

At the end of the game, I was left questioning as to whether or not this coaching staff has even the slightest clue. The team gave up, they couldn't adjust to any blitz, Spags is calling timeouts at the end potentially putting players in a position to get hurt, only to then follow up with ever MORE draw plays, and a punt of 4th down?

I'm sorry, but I don't think he has a clue as to what he wants this team to be at this point, and that's sad after 20 games. He has a long offseason ahead, but unless we see significant improvement next year, I'm not willing to wait several years. I'm tired of waiting and giving everybody a pass. In my 2000th post, I'll elaborate much further on this, once my head becomes level again.

How can you blame Cogs and give Chris a pass, its basically the same situation. Cogs headbutts the opposition and he's a headcase, but Chris does the very same thing.....But oh!, he's just taking one for the team!!! Double standard for sure.

Tis reminds me of the guy who wanted to cut Amendola last week, then turned around two minutes later and was cheering his play.

The difference is Cogs IS a nutcase - he continously did this kind of stuff.

you will be hard pressed to top this post with #2000,great points and I am sure people will debate Spags with you but I agree,I did not see alot this season that gave me reason to believe this guy will be the great coach some think he will,I hope he does but he needs to pick it up next season.

You're right. And Cogs was standing up all year, admittedly standing up a bit too much, but I'll never blame one of our offensive lineman for dishing it out to the enemy.

I'm fine with him getting ejected. He was standing up for himself and his team mates. Yes, being ejected sucks and doesn't look good, but I'm proud of Chris standing up for what is right.

Ohhhhhhhh, Spags was upset. Boohoo. Maybe he should focus on doing a better job coaching rather than worrying about Jeff Fisher "running up the score", and maybe then we wouldn't get whipped like that ....

1) Cogs-- the difference is that CLong isnt to this point a multiple offender as Cogs is and was.

2) DA COACH-- at last someone who sees eye to eye with me regarding Spagnuolo.

This upcoming year is what will show the type of 'coach' he really is. The team is still a remanant of the Linewho era and mistakes made there.

However, IMO, a good coach is one who is able to get the most out of what his players and other coaches have to offer. I havent seen anything impressive about what Spagnuolo has done here yet.

All we've seen is what is typical in a major business takeover

1) get rid of pieces that may not be loyal to you
and
2) cut costs

I have chastised Shurmer for his offense, but more and more I am leaning to the mindset that Spags is responsible for this. How can a head coach in all honesty feel that his teams' offense is performing up to par?

Parcells is a run 1st coach, yet his teams seemed to have good passing games with Phil Simms, Drew Bledsoe, and Romo.

There is more wrong with this team than the perceived lack of talent, which is the phrase that many like to use for the Rams even though
almost every player on this team has measurable statistics such as

Strength
40 yd times
Lateral quickness
etc....

that are equal to most other teams' players.

To suggest that the Incognito and Long situations are the same is just plain ignorant. While I don't condone Long's actions, I sure as hell don't see him going down the path that Incognito did. Long simply let one get away from him, while Incognito was a clear repeat offender.

There is no double standard here. End of story. Next year, if Chris Long is inactive due to illness and eating a candy bar on the sideline, then we'll talk.

With Incognito, his headbutts looked intentional. Now was Long deserving of a penalty? Yes. In the future, he needs to more restrained. Headbutts, intentional or not, are the wrong way.

I want you to count the amount of penalties (Personal fouls, encroachment, off side, false start, etc) both cogs and long have had. To be fair lets just say in the past two years. You can get back to me with who had more. Im gonna place my bet on the guy that isnt on the team anymore.
