    Safety Answer?

Hey guys Brock Marion was just released by the Lions. Anyone think he'd be a good guy to pick up?

Here's the veteran safety some Clan members have been asking for.

Meh, maybe for the vet minimum. I'm not that intrigued.

    Re: Safety Answer?

...of course not. Who wants a productive veteran safety to start until these rookies can develop. Sometimes I just don't understand your analysis, or lack of in this case, Seiler.

Is Atogwe an unproven rookie, Hawthorne someone who struggled in GB, or Stone, a guy who never started a game at safety in his life, a better option?

Oh I forgot, Archuleta's supposed to come back and pick up coverage skills during his shortened offseason.

    Re: Safety Answer?

At 35, Marion is on the downside of his career - he's losing steps in coverage, won't stay on tight ends in man coverage, and isn't going to impress anyone in run support.

Marion was cut from a Detroit Lions team that went out of their way to make one of their first offseason upgrades a safety... a team that apparently feels Terrance Holt is a better starting option at FS than veteran Marion... a team that would rather have newly acquired rookie defensive back Stanley Wilson in their secondary than Marion.

Like I said, maybe for the vet minimum, but nothing more.

This interests me - and probably you - quite a bit more...

Now that's the Seilernalysis I was looking for. As for Glenn, how's his tackling?

He is 35, but we won't need him for the next decade. I think he would be good addition.

    Re: Safety Answer?

I'd wait until June 1 and see who else is available before offering Marion a contract.

As far as Glenn goes, looks like he is already off the market.

    Re: Safety Answer?

Stiles, I hope you do realize that rookie's don't always make an impact their first year. Who knows if Atogwe will be able to catch on right away.

Also, there are two safety positions. Nobody knows if Archuleta will be able to play.
