I can see situations where having a Double SS on the field can be a win. Its all situational and changes up the backfield look; might even throw a crinkle in Squawks game plans. Have to really wait to see what both the 49whinners/Squawks do for TEs. In theory one doesn't attempt to run the ball against such a defensive formation with 9 in the box leaving only quick swing passes/flanker screens/and inside slants if their is a solid pass rush--its one of the advantages of a 4/3. Running the ball and isolating the MLB for 3-4+yard gain is ideal but with double SS, one runs into the teeth of the defense and most of the quick out passes are covered--sadly though without a pass rush it puts the CBs on an island in man-to-man

The Rams are the ones who had him put on weight so he could transition from S to LB. You'd think that implies that the Rams don't like the prospect of Ray-Ray at S. I'd say he stays at LB, and hopefully he can continue to develop there.

When I saw this thread this is exactly what I thought. Gregg Williams can make some great defensive players and maybe McLeod is what he is looking at. However, I think we will draft someone and McLeod will end up being a solid ST contributor along with solid back-up Safety.

I think Ray Ray will be eventually groomed as one of our starting linebackers along with someone we draft. Atleast for the next half decade I see a SOLID STRONG LB corp. Ogletree, Laurinitis, Ray-Ray and Draftee. Put that together with our D-Line and we will be even more of a force to be messed with.

Well according to overthecap.com and spotrac.com we have 8.9 mil left in cap space which is enough to pay our rookies. I'm not sure why anyone is suprised by the lack of moves when the answer is right there.
