Safety Rashard Hall getting his NFL chance with St. Louis Rams

    Jim Thomas @jthom1

The other newly-signed Ram, S Rashard Hall signed a three-year deal that would pay him $405K this year. (No signing bonus.)

Rashard Hall has his foot in the NFL's door.

On the eve of the beginning of preseason training camp, the St. Louis Rams announced that they have filled their 90-man roster by signing rookie free agents Hall, a safety, and Demetrius Fields, a wide receiver.

The 6-2, 210-pound Hall was a four-year regular in Clemson's secondary. He had six interceptions as a sophomore, and then added four more last fall while serving as one of the Tigers' team captains.

Fields, a 6-foot, 210-pounder from Northwestern, signed as a rookie free agent with the Chicago Bears but was released at the end of minicamp

Both Hall and Fields took part in the Tuesday afternoon rookies workout with the Rams.

Hall will be working against some familiar players, including Rams' rookies Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey of West Virginia and second-year pro Chris Givens of Wake Forest.
