Salary cap update

Here is a list of salary cap situations up until May 24th. I know someone asked this a couple of weeks ago. There still might be some major cuts as some teams still don't have enough money to sign their rookies.

That shock me is that so many teams have so much money. Some one needs to tell these teams that you don't get bonus points for being under the cap.

Rank Team $ Under the Cap
1 Philadelphia Eagles $19.2589 M

2 New England Patriots $16.9489 M

3 San Diego Chargers $14.7211 M

4 New Orleans Saints $14.1018 M

5 Jacksonville Jaguars $13.8492 M

6 Arizona Cardinals $13.7119 M

7 Minnesota Vikings $13.071 M

8 NY Jets $13.0653 M

9 Dallas Cowboys $12.8912 M

10 Seattle Seahawks $11.7228 M

11 San Francisco ***** $11.6431 M

12 Green Bay Packers $10.7918 M

13 Cleveland Browns $10.5808 M

14 Buffalo Bills $10.5338 M

15 Cincinnati Bengals $9.73477 M

16 Detroit Lions $9.42998 M

17 Indianapolis Colts $9.03757 M

18 Kansas City Chiefs $8.83731 M

19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers $8.25964 M

20 St. Louis Rams $7.14451 M

21 Baltimore Ravens $7.02679 M

22 Chicago Bears $5.27676 M

23 Carolina Panthers $4.72905 M

24 Denver Broncos $4.51431 M

25 Washington Redskins $4.2398 M

26 NY Giants $3.27608 M

27 Pittsburgh Steelers $3.21991 M

28 Miami Dolphins $3.06639 M

29 Houston Texans $2.74959 M

30 Oakland Raiders $2.3749 M

31 Atlanta Falcons $1.63639 M

32 Tennessee Titans $795935

Re: Salary cap update

The Eagles is what astonishes me...they need a good WR.

Re: Salary cap update

I seem to remember back around 2000 the Eagles were routinely one of the teams with the largest salary cap space. Don't know the reason, just remember them always seeming to have cap space.

Re: Salary cap update

It blows me away how much money some of these teams have to spend. Are they really that money hungry or is there no talent in the pool.

That doesn't mean they go spend money on whatever's out there, though. Who's the best FA WR out there right now? Az Hakim? Just because you have the money doesn't mean you need to spend it on mediocre-at-best players.

Re: Salary cap update

Point taken nick, but last year, they had plenty of cap space, a team that was ready to win the superbowl, no front line running back, plenty of extra picks, and refused to give up a #3 for alexander. They proceeded to have a about the worst running game in the nfc and still, people blamed owens, not the front office for not getting a quality back. They also didnt sign a quality receiver (ie muslim muhammed) to go with owens and it cost them big time. Cap conscious is critical, excessively conservative protects for the future, but isnt aggressive enough to win in the present. Its like anything else in life, it requires balance.

Well, my point wasn't that the Eagles shouldn't have made any attempts at all this offseason or last to go get help at WR, but rather than they shouldn't spend the money right now just because they have it.

Re: Salary cap update

Let's hope the St. Louis Rams' Front Office safeguards 'our' money! :-)

I'm not really interested in what Philly or N.E. or San Diego does with their spare change. It's good to know those figures, however, as a reference.
