This is untrue. There is no set timetable as everyone is different. It has taken Alex Smith 7 years to even resemble an effective NFL QB. While 3 years of average play were followed by multiple pro bowl years and SB MVP status in Drew Brees. 3 years may be a good gauging point, but it should not be the deciding factor.

we might as well trade down, then our expectations wont be so high. LOL. If we do anything it has to be with new managment and coach i think. I guess will see, still in LA and still a stlouis rams fan. Lets not hope for the best but demand the best.

    Thank you
    Here's mine:

OT: With Smith's concussion history as well as his mediocre-at-best performance when healthy, you cannot rely upon both him and Saffold to make it through the year playing well and healthy. Need an OT.

OG: Bell's contract is mercifully finally up and he'll need to be replaced at LG.

C: Brown has been a huge bust at center which is why he lost his job to journeyman Wragge. Wragge is a backup G playing C and this is another hole in the OL.

WR: Re-signing Lloyd is not a given by any means and it's an area that needs addressing even if the Rams manage to re-up him.

DT: At least one. Robbins appears to be on the downside of his career and will be 35 in March. As a group, the DT's are rather sub-par vs. the run and cannot penetrate. The weak link of the D.

OLB: Poppinga and Leber were busts at FA and Chamberlain looks to be maybe "OK" but this is an area that needs addressing and not ignored.

Alex Smith is doing the Trent Dilfer school of Qb , he isn't amazing anyone with his 200 yds per game play. He is finally making less mistakes and staying healthy wich was always his biggest problem IMO. Too many Qb's stick around past the expiration date. If Frank Gore goes down ALex Smith becomes the old version trying to throw them into big game wins.
