Sam Bradford talks up the Rams as NFC West contenders
Posted by Michael David Smith on October 5, 2010 10:16 AM ET
The Rams were the worst team in the league last year, which earned them the opportunity to select Sam Bradford with the first pick in the draft. Now Bradford thinks the Rams are heading toward the playoffs.
In an interview with Dan Patrick today, Bradford said he doesn't see any reason the Rams can't win the NFC West.
"Each week I feel more comfortable," Bradford said. "I expect for this team to compete for the division."
That might sound a little crazy when the Rams have gone 1-15, 2-14 and 3-13 the last three seasons, but it's really not: The Rams are 2-2 and in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West, along with the Cardinals and Seahawks.
And considering that the Rams get to play the Lions on Sunday, while the Cardinals play the Saints and the Seahawks are off, it's entirely possible that a week from today, the Rams will be the only team in the division with a winning record.
Can they keep it up for 12 more weeks? Who knows? But Bradford is right to feel good about his team's chances.

Re: Sam Bradford talks up the Rams as NFC West contenders
I wouldn't want to hear anything less from our starting QB...it reflects his confidence on the field.
And most talking heads I hear agree. Welcome to the new reality. Spags is on his way to "Coach of the Year" at this rate.

Re: Sam Bradford talks up the Rams as NFC West contenders
That sure is misleading. Typical twisting of words.
Bradford says: "Each week I feel more comfortable," Bradford said. "I expect for this team to compete for the division."
Yet the article says : Bradford said he doesn't see any reason the Rams can't win the NFC West.
Where exactly did Bradford say that? Did they leave a quote out or is the writer embellishing?

Bradford said. "
I read this as being a contender? He is, after all, speaking of contending (competing)for the NFC West title?I expect for this team to compete for the division"

Re: Sam Bradford talks up the Rams as NFC West contenders
Saying that you will compete for the division is a lot different than saying you dont see any reason the Rams can't win it.
I realize it may be subtle. But to me, the wording differences have a much bigger meaning than what the author suggests. If Bradford did indeed say that, then it should of been shown in quotes.
