Re: Saunders is done deal
Here is what Randy Karraker is saying:
Linehan says their terminology is close, but it's Saunders' offense. He'll call the plays. Linehan wants to put in one play a week.
Says he's admired Saunders for a long time. The Vikings and Redskins scrimmaged in training camp, so they knew each other from that.
Says it'll be great for Jackson and Bulger...says the Rams will be one of the best kept secrets in the league with the talent they have coming back.
Williams status...nothing new to report. He has a job opening and Scott thinks he's one of the best coaches in the NFL. Nothing new to report on that.
This isn't an admission of failure, just an admission that he needs help. And thinks that Saunders is the best OC in the league.

Re: Saunders is done deal
Some info from me listening to the Linehan interview
-Linehan was VERY sincere in his talkings
-Said he is going to give the entire offense to Al
-Admitted he lost some of the guys and needs to rebuild trust
-Happy with Hasslett and has NO BEEF.
-ADMITTED HE NEEDED HELP!
-Lots of confidence that this will be turned around
-Complete team effort, and will rely on more people to be successful.
-AGAIN, VERY up beat...much more than I have ever heard Linehan. Not boring, very positive, joking, relaxed and VERY talkative.

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
01/30/2008
The Rams are bringing Al Saunders back to St. Louis. Saunders, a Rams assistant coach in 1999 and 2000, has been hired as coach Scott Linehan’s offensive coordinator.
Saunders replaces Greg Olson, who is bound for Tampa Bay as quarterbacks coach after two years with the Rams. Olson was relieved of his OC duties in the wake of the Rams' 3-13 finish.
Saunders became available Saturday, when he was let go by the Washington Redskins. Linehan also considered Cincinnati quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese and Atlanta offensive coordinator Hue Jackson before settling on Saunders.
Check back later on STLtoday.com or read Thursday's St. Louis Post-Dispatch for more on this story.

Re: Saunders is done deal
Hey, I can't say I've liked Linehan this year...who can? But he has some ***NOT OK HERE***to admit he basically sucked, lost some teammates' trust and wants to rebuild on that. It shows Cohones (however you spell it) and I admire that...thus for that, I am totally willing to give him another shot at HC. Good luck Linehan, trust me, you and I both (including every other Rams fan) wants to see you succeed!

Re: Saunders is done deal
Great news. This was well worth the wait and IMO is the best scenario for the Rams and Linehan. The players will easily accept Saunders and his philosophies because he is someone who comes in with instant credibility and respect along with a history with the team. Linehan won't have to look over his shoulder because Saunders is more than happy to play the coordinator role and will no doubt be a team unifyer. A win win situation all around.

Re: Saunders is done deal
Good news for sure.
Can't help but wonder what week he will take over HC duties...
Anybody care to take a guess?
I'm totaly excited about this, but what exactly is Linehan going to be doing? He's an offensive guy, but is giving Al total control. Jim's got the D under control. I guess he will just build on his strength of motivational speaking and throwing the red flag when told to.
Again, no matter what happens this is good news.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Maybe not now, but soon.
