Saunders interview recapped

Anyone else catch it? My god this guy is well spoken and seems like a really smart football guy. I don't think I even know what Greg Olson looks or sounds like, Saunders should be the head coach of this team.

He said that center was still a need on the team and that they were "looking into different options" and that "free agency isn't over yet".

He said first and foremost he wants to have a highly productive running game which will set up an equally effective passing game. He said that Jackson was "one of the top two or three" RBs in the league.

Said Bulger is one of the top QBs in the league and also said that for weeks he has been in the weight room every day and studying with him. He said he has a premeium on pass protection, that in KC and Washington they set records lows in both organizations for sacks, 19 sacks in both years (in one whole year! good lord, bulger is averaging close to 50 a year).

Said that Green would be a huge asset to the organization and he is a tremendous leader and his lockerroom impact alone will be significant. Says he makes everyone around him play better and that Green would help Bulger play at a higher level in training camp.

He said he's been here for five or six weeks and that it seems like its been six months already, he's done a ton of work.

He said that he thinks "if all the pieces come together ... I have no doubt we can bring this organization back to the high status it was at when I left". He started mentioning the 99 superbowl in the beginning and was about to transition that thought to this coming year but you could tell he thought better then giving any super bowl predictions and worded it a bit better with the "pieces" coming together and "back to the high status" instead of a super bowl.

He gave the impression that a lot of us have with this team, we should have been better last year and barring a stupid amount of injuries we can probably live up to the expectations a lot of people had for the team in 07.

Thought this was worth sharing .. Thanks mnrlgry!!

This is such a great read. I loved it. Thanks for posting man.

I have a feeling that once we do fix our OL problem, we will have the top RB and QB in the league. Maybe not #1 but certainly up there.

We'll live up to our expectations for sure, we keep that line healthy and find a good pass rush, we'll be a competetor instead of a spectator next year.

Jake Long would go a long way in this process. If we only gave up 20 sacks we would put up a ton of points.

Jake Long would be a great addition to have especially having plugging him in at the RG position next year. But saying that, spending a high draft pick on a RG, RT ( thats the position project him to play). We need stability on the front 7 for next year and Chris Long ( even though thats not who i would like to piick, I want Dorsey) would go a long way at acheiving that....

For one , this must shine a little light on our sorry sorry drury franchise and all the suffering fans . that being said , Linehan can be ( brought back , " in a reduced roll " as the offical ASSISTANT to the TE'S coach . that should be about right i think . there ya go .

Short term, he would move over and take Pace's spot in two years or so. If Pace went down Jake and Barron would not be bad IMO. I will be happy with either Long.

I wish I could get inside the weight room to study Bulger working out.

Re: Saunders interview recapped

Brady Quinn was a beast at his combine, doing 25(I think) reps at 225 lbs.

Why do I imagine Bulger getting that backwards and doing 225 reps at 25 lbs.?
