    Say goodbye to these 3

Pace, Holt and Little. These long term Rams will not be back next year. Holt is done with the organization and I honestly don't think the Rams will resign either Pace or Little. The release of Pace will greatly impact the direction will take in the draft.

    I disagree !

Little and Pace will want to retire a Ram and will restructure thier contracts to cap friendlier deals. Holt may bolt and should be traded if he does not want to stay with the organization.
Both Pace and Little still have gas left in the tank and by sticking around will lesson the need in those two areas for 2009.

We have enough needs elsewhere without throwing them out with Ziggy and Shaw.

Not throwing them out Maine....it's just they aren't producing. Pace can't stay healthy and Little hasn't been productive the last three seasons. I don't see the Rams hanging onto any of these players anymore which could be a good thing. It's time to get young again and we might as well start now.

I think a lot of that will depend on who they hire as the HC. If it is Haslett, for instance, I think all three of those guys will stay.

Another HC might have a different idea about that.

I think Holt needs to go. It's time and they could use the cap space on younger players.

Pace is ify because they are so thin at that position. I'd guess they'll try to squeeze another year out of him and work on getting his successor ready next season. Plus I think he'll cost a lot to cut or trade still.

Little should have been gone after the 07' season IMO. But they restructured his deal instead which pushed more guaranteed money back in his contract and made him more difficult to get rid of now. Maybe he can contribute next season in whatever scheme as a 3rd down type pass rush specialist.

I've been all for the youth movement for a while now though. It's just a matter now of how aggressive they decide to get with that. Judging from Devaney's comments that they don't think they're that far away, I'd wager that no major house cleaning on the player's front is coming though. And I would think cleaning out Pace, Holt and Little to be a pretty significant piece to a major house cleaning.

Welcome back Tx where ya'll been? At any rate, Pace only missed 2 games this past year and, imo, played well when he was on the field. Little is the one who can't stay healthy and as Hornit said, maybe he should be relegated to the role of 3rd down pass rusher to save anymore wear and tear on his bod.

I gotta believe the Rams will hang on to these 2; Holt, however, is a whole 'nother situation.

    WHA SAY YE?

WOW!!! Didn't take long for tx to stir up the pot.

I could see Holt and Little being history but the BIG O will be back.

You know me.....always trying to make it interesting.

I just think this team is gonna just as bad next year unless the Rams take drastic action and get an infusion of youth in. Draft the kid from Alabama and put him in Pace's spot, sign Jordon Gross from FA and put him in Barron's then move to move Barron to guard. Little has dropped off and getting up there so cut the cord. Holt just doesn't want to be here period and I can't say I blame him. This team needs so much that why not gut it and and put some primer down for the future.

I hear Little is interested in becoming an airport car service driver.

    Go Rams!

I'm with ya on the Jordan Gross signing as I brought it up in a thread earlier this week.

I will not be shock to see Holt leave but I think the rest will stay. As sad as it is Little is still our best pass rusher unless some else can step up.

Re: Say goodbye to these 3

Pretty much aggree with the posts on Holt, Pace, Little.

Jackie Slatter was a great player but stayed too long...Pace might have a year perhaps 2 left; so keeping him on a year longer may help with transition.

Holt, has been stuck in a system that he doesn't believe in nor maximize his talent. With the O-line woes, and lack of a I. Bruce on the opposite wing or working in tandium, he can't be play his game. In a way it would be a mercy for Holt to find another home like Carolina (S. Smith) to work with.

Little pretty much in the same possition as Holt is in--he doesn't have an equal counter-part to free him up. Plus there is age and injury issues plaguing him. Never was into "specialist" players--get your opponent on a 3 and 10 and have Little trot on the field takes a little misery out of what defensive scheme your going to run

It depends. If Holt will redo his contract, then I think he stays. If not, we'll see who we can trade him to. For Little, maybe we could do what Atlanta did with John Abraham. Move him around and limit his time so he's always playing fresh. We can let Hall and Adeyanju get more time then. And Pace... I think he has one more year and then we let him go. Let him train his replacement.

All I hope is that one, Carolina can't resign Jordan Gross and two, we have the cap room to get him locked up long term. Both can very easily go against us.

Re: Say goodbye to these 3

It makes no sense to restructure a deal just to cut him, I think Little will be back as a situational guy. IMO it might depend on the coach if he stays or goes.

As for Holt I have to agree with you, he doesn't want to be here he is good as gone. I think he will be early in the off season.

We are to shallow at the position to get rid of Pace. Regardless he was our best lineman last year. Our offense is already extremely young if we get rid of Holt. We definately need a veteran to bring some leadership and guidance. I say we give Pace a year and let our future LT develop in the right side. I definately think he needs to restructure though.

Re: Say goodbye to these 3

It all comes down to if these guys want to come back. If Holt wants to be back, he will be back.

Same goes for Little and Pace. Certainly we have to find replacements for these guys, but not for next season.

Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!
