Say your final Goodbyes now!
Godspeed, Mr. McDaniels :
Report: McDaniels joining Pats for playoffs

Updating an earlier item, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Patriots are expected to hire Josh McDaniels as an offensive assistant for the playoffs.
McDaniels is then expected to take over as departing OC Bill O'Brien's replacement after the postseason. Adding a new coach during the postseason is essentially unprecedented, but could make sense for the Patriots since McDaniels is familiar with the offense and O'Brien's attention figures to be divided as he undertakes the massive task of saving the Penn State football program. That being said, adding a new voice at this time of year is extremely risky, especially since O'Brien hasn't always seen eye-to-eye with HC Bill Belichick and Tom Brady this season.

Re: Say your final Goodbyes now!
Silent Stan is a greak moniker.......I have always found that ACTION speaks LOUDER then WORDS! I am simply a dedicated fan watching and waiting from the perverbial sidelines. If Stan does this right, we should have the doormat stink of the NFL in the rearview mirror. Once and for all. We will not know though, until we take field next year although we can certainly have glimpses of it all through out off season......HC hire, GM, Draft, FA pickups, UDFA signings etc. Very exciting offseason coming up

Sayonara sucker. Now if you could do us all a favor and work your magic on the Patriots Offense we would be most appreciative.

Re: Say your final Goodbyes now!
I, for one, am sorry to see him go. Yes, our offense was pretty awful under his supervision this year, but McDaniels has the ability to run a high octane offense. Now we really are starting all over again with Bradford and company for the third year in a row.

Re: Say your final Goodbyes now!
seems to be a strange time to hire him now.i wasn't even aware it was allowed when teams are in the playoffs.
wonder if O`Brien will break the run of Belicheat underlings who struggle without him having his beady rodent eyes on them.
oh yeah..farewell Joshua. not much thought put into it i know..but pretty much more than you put in this season towards a plan B for if your complicated system can't be mastered straight off the bat with very lil practice time.

Re: Say your final Goodbyes now!
Honestly I don't care about McDaniels leaving, I care about Lloyd leaving.

Re: Say your final Goodbyes now!
I had high hopes for McDaniels, but he never lived up to the hype. IMO, all he's proven as an OC is that he can manage a fully functioning, high powered offense, something he inherited in New England. He was obviously horrible with the Rams, and in Denver, the offense regressed under his direction, and his decision to immediately try to bring in Cassel and alienate Cutler was a huge tactical miscue. I'm glad to see him go.
As for Lloyd, I'd like to see him stay, but if he's going to pledge allegiance to a coach over a team, I have no problem with him taking a hike as well.

Re: Say your final Goodbyes now!
With that nightmare he's walking in to at Penn State, I'd say the chances are highly unlikely.
Regarding the New England "offensive coordinator" vacancy, let's all be honest here.. Tom Brady runs that show. McDaniels, O'Brien and anyone else essentially are just there by name.Last edited by Harry S. Truman; -01-07-2012 at 03:34 PM.

McDaniels.....DOOR <--> ASS
Another example of talent on the field making a mediocre coach look good.

Re: Say your final Goodbyes now!
I guess it's goodbye to the best receiver we've had since Torry Holt. And just like that we're back to square one as far as WR goes, minus a 5th round pick to boot.
My bet is, he'll be better than ever in NE catching balls from Brady, and they'll continue their dominance in the AFC for the forseeable future.
My God, Gronkowski, Welker, Lloyd, Hernandez.
Tom Brady may not throw an incompletion next year.
And the leaugue will have us to thank.
