Scale of 1-10, Amount we should be worried about the Rookie K/P

    These guys look great.

Zuerlein looks like a kicker that will transition from great in college to NFL. The punter is tall and looks ideal to boot em 55 yards on 4th down.. So, overall they are looking very good.

However we are going into the season with a rookie punter and kicker. How much do you guys think that we might have to worry about that. I think on a scale of 1-10, we might be right down the middle at 5.

We have went from one of the best punter/kicker combo to completely new. It has to worry us in some aspects right?

Your question is a valid one. I'm not worried about the punter at all. As for the kicker, moving the ball consistently into field goal range should be our first concern, THEN we can tackle the issue as to whether or not he's any good.

I can see that, with the punter, the thing I was also thinking about of course is also his additional duty of holding. I don't think we should be worried at all thats why I said 5. Just a normal issue I feel like, but wanted to gauge what others thought

No worries at all .. We won't be punting anyway, and the majority of our field goals will be from inside the 15 or less.

Doesn't Zerlien come from, like, Central Missouri State Teachers College or something? I thing they still use the wooden goal posts made of telephone poles. Should take some time to adjust.

I'm not really too worried right now. I can guarantee that there will be a learning curve though. We seen Donnie Jones mess up and punt to Patrick Peterson by accident once, and he was one of the best Punters in the NFL. I don't even want to think of Josh Brown's struggles. These guys look like a nice duo, but they will mess up a few times here or there.

With punters and kickers you have to have full confidence in their abilities until they prove to be unreliable. So thats the attitude I'm going into the season with. And hey, if you can kick a ball, you can kick a ball; it doesn't really matter what kind of competition Zuerlein saw in college.

I'm mostly worried about the punter since he's been known to punt for negative yardage.

The only concern I might have would be on pressure kicks by the kicker. He's not used to the pressures of the NFL stage with a whole stadium bearing down on him to win the game. Until he makes one in a pressure situation, he won't have "arrived" yet. Once he's found a way to make that one just like the rest, he'll be golden.

No worries about the punter. Unless his acting skills are bad!
    I believe!

I remember reading somewhere that most of his muffed punts happened when he was punting "rugby style," running toward the sideline and then punting. That shouldn't be an issue anymore since nobody punts like that in the big leagues.
