Scenarios for Rams to make Playoffs II

Scenarios for Rams to make Playoffs II:

    Notes:
Rams lose all ties within the division due to guaranteed inferior division record.
The Eagles and Giants would win all tie-breakers, as they would have to have a superior conference record for a tie at 8-8.
Rams would win tie-breaker against Packers due to head-to-head.
Carolina wins all tie-breakers due to head-to-head
Since Eagles are already guaranteed a better placement than the Rams, the Eagles must be the #5 seed or the NFC East winner for the Rams to get the #6 seed.

    1. Rams must win both remaining games (Redskins, Vikings)
    2. Giants must lose both games (Saints, Redskins)
    3. San Francisco ‘ers must lose one of its remaining games (Cardinals, Broncos)
    4. Panthers must beat Falcons
    5. Saints must beat Panthers
    6. Eagles must beat Falcons OR Rams will have to REALLY run up the score in final two games OR Panthers must really blow out Falcons.

Not counting the blowout scenario, we need EIGHT games to go our way.

it would be very strange to see the Rams in the playoffs after that massive losing streak

i dont know if i want it to happen either, because its very likely we would get absolutely spanked

Of course you should want to make the play-off's...Yeah we may get well beaten but making the post-season is what it's all about...This be honest whoever makes the NFC wildcard picture will be very fortunate because this year the NFC has been extremely poor...But all the Rams should be thinking about is trying to get a W on Sunday and then another next week...Everything else is out of our hands and the team shouldn't get caught up in worrying about anything else than their last 2 games..:l

Oh, you had to go and mention 04! (What an embarrassing end to a year that was for us.)

So you need, besides the Rams winning out,

    Giants to lose out
    Saints to win out
    Falcons to lose out
    ***** to lose at all...

I'm OK with that, especially since it means you guys beat the Vikings. Good luck!

Re: Scenarios for Rams to make Playoffs II

I posted this in the other playoff thread:

One of my friends told me that the Packers would also be ahead of the Rams if they win against the Bears next week. I know us beating them constitutes a tie-break over them but don't you remember back in the 2004 season the Saints bet us the second game of the year and we both finished 8-8 but we got the final spot over them? Since the Packers have a better confrence record than us does that come into play or what? Someone straighten this out for me please. Thanks.

They play the Bears at Chicago if that is any consolation, but here are the tie-breaker procedures:

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION
If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

    Two Clubs
    1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
    2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
    3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
    4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
    5. Strength of victory.
    6. Strength of schedule.
    7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
    8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
    9. Best net points in common games.
    10. Best net points in all games.
    11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

We would actually win the tie-breaker because of 1. Head to head vs Pack.
