    Schedule Favorable For Quick Start

In the past two seasons, the Rams have gotten into a hole in the first three games of the season, going 0-3 in 2002 and 1-2 last year.

This year, the schedule makers may have set up a situation that will allow the Rams to get out of the gate quickly.

The Rams open at home against Arizona. While the Cardinals should be improved, they have significant holes in the running game and on defense, and an inexperienced QB in Josh McCown.

Week 2 finds the Rams travelling to Atlanta to play the Vicks...er... the Falcons, with the team trying to perfect the newly installed West Coast offense. The Rams have had good success in the Georgia Dome in the past, and this should be another game they should win.

Then, in Week 3 its back home to play New Orleans. While the Saints are a talented team, particularly on offense, the Rams should have the advantage on their home field.

A 3-0 start sure would be nice.

I agree, but not even a 6-0 start could get the Vikes in the postseason.

But 3-0 would be a nice start.

Didn't Shipp break his foot? That really hurts the Cardinals.

But yeah good points. Would like to start off strong like we used to. Remember those 6-0 starts?

I agree 100%!The first week of the season is always good for a couple of major upsets so the Rams need to be on their toes.Bulger struggled against the Cards in the last meeting and the Cards have yet to beat us since the realignment.Remember there is always a first time for everything.I really think we should kick the crap out of Arizona, but I really hope our Boys In Blue are well prepared for this season opener!!It very well could set the tempo for the entire season.

Emmitt Smith? Josh McCown? Please. If it were even close, it'd be embarrassing.

AZ is a different team than in years past. If they improve at all on last years performances, we will need to make sure we show up for that one....

There is no margin for error to lose one of those first 2 games, given the remainder of the schedule.

    agree...

I am not sure Smith and McCown are all that bad...given the talent around them. The Cards may not be division champs this year but they will much improved and much more dangerous. They had a pretty good year last year towards the end and gave us all we could handle. Looking past them is a BIG mistake and they are going to make some noise this season.

    Good point.

The Cardinals didn't win a single game on the road. The combined score of those games was 92-281, with the average score being 12-35. Hopefully that trend will continue into this season so the Rams can get the momentum going early.

These Cards will be better, but not right away. They have too much inexperience to come out in the early weeks, in my opinion. The last half of the year, that's a different story.

Avenger, why must you always start off the season trying to predict the wins and losses? Don't be predicting 3-0 right now. Don't be building expectations. Don't do it man.

The Cardinals might actually want to prove something early and the Rams had better now look past them.

We have not even seen one play in the preseason and you are already talking it up. Easy.

As the cliche goes...one game at a time. On paper it looks like a favorable, but stranger things have happened. Let's just concentrate on getting past Bolden, Fitzgerald and company as the Cards look to rebound.

Re: Schedule Favorable For Quick Start

I'm not saying the Rams can pencil in a 3-0 start.

But would you rather the schedule start with road games against New England, Philadelphia and Indianapolis?
