Seahorn Or Herring???

who do you blame most for our 2003 divisional loss to the panters, or atleast the 69 yards and they are going to the nfc championship game?? I cried the entire offseason after that. the reason that I ask, is because I was watching my old game tapes of the rams last night, and I believe it is seahorn.because he bit on jakes pump fake and never had a chance on it.

Re: Seahorn Or Herring???

interesting that you guys arent blaming holt, he only dropped the wide open pass for the touchdown!!. Martz is to blame too, for his decision to run the clock and kick the field goal to tie instead of throwing. which is understandable. because of marc's play in the game. throwing the interception to rickie manning. wilkins has been almost perfect from 50 yds since that kick too.

Re: Seahorn Or Herring???

Smith is still tearing up guys. You could have probably put any 1 person back there and the beauty of it is Smilth is just that damn good........

As far as blaming I do not like to blame any one person or play. It's a team sport and many plays through out the game can be a factor in winning and or losing.....

Re: Seahorn Or Herring???

I dont like to blame either, but the question had to be asked, because the entire team did not miss that tackle, only two people did.

Re: Seahorn Or Herring???

Why do we have to ask the question.

Sometimes the play is made just like the tackle Jones made to give us the championship. Sometimes you miss and you have to tip your hat to talent like Steve Smith and say WOW what a play.....

The Defense. They get paid to stop opposition.

Re: Seahorn Or Herring???

the defense, but if i had to blame one guy, i would say lovie smith, who failed to make any adjustments of any kind as the game wore on and didnt have the defense ready to play. Second choice. Bryan young, who failed to fall on the fumble on the goal line that was literally in his hands in the second quarter when we were winning.

ramming speed to all

That is true,Lovie's defense went AWOL that game.Carolina with Stephen Davis(before he got injured) and Deshaun Foster ran all over us that game, sounds familiar doesn't it!:l

Re: Seahorn Or Herring???

Seahorn played a part missing the play completely. I expected no less from that loser though, we're responsible for signing and using him though.

Lovie played a part, his (run) defense was downright awful, whether his scheme was flawed or he drafted/signed the wrong guys (how did Jamie Duncan pan out replacing Fletcher? What about our 1st round DT's?) or perhaps he was too caught up in the Chicago HC position, or maybe all of the above. But I for one don't think back on Lovie Smith's defense half as fondly as most fans seem to do (in retrospect because of the success the Bears have had recently perhaps?). Lovie made a lot of God-awful mistakes here, and we're still paying for them on defense (Marmie didn't help either).

Martz played a part as well, I still cannot fathom how he settled for the field goal instead of going for the win. On that play Martz abandoned everything he was known for and it cost us dearly, did he let the critics get to him and chickened out? If Martz had been a ball-control, defense kind of coach I wouldn't blame him as much, if that was his style, but he completely abandoned his own style and tried to be something he was not. The whole team saw it, they were all looking out at the sideline waiting to hear a play called, waiting for Martz to make his move and give our offense the best possible shot at winning. But Martz remained passive and just let the time run out, he couldn't have said it more clearly - "I don't believe in you", and the team got the message. Can't remember a worse decision in terms of leadership in all the time I've watched the Rams, we had the momentum driving down the field and then we gave up.
