Seems like you guys got JR Reed from us

On the official Eagles message boards, JR Reed's sister is on there and claims the Rams signed him to a one year contract. Moderators checked out her IP and email address, and it's legit. She seems to really be his sister.

It's a shame JR Reed couldn't make it as an Eagle, because he was a wonderful story. Had a horrible injury while jumping over a fence and severely damaged the nerves behind his knee. He made great progress during the last 2 years and had a pretty good camp and preseason with the Eagles. He's not afraid to knock the snot out of players when on defense, and he's a pretty smart player too. He was just a step slow because if that injury, and needs to wear special shoes to help him run.

He should still be an effective player for you guys and even returns kicks and punts too, although obviously not as well pre-injury.

Just letting you guys know. I don't post here much, but I still have my account from last year when I asked you for opinions on Lamar Gordon.

The Eagles cut him, and you signed him, according to his sister. You gave up nothing. You guys are getting a good player. Everyone said his career was over after the injury, yet he is back playing football again. He is a great story.

Re: Seems like you guys got JR Reed from us

We could use a good punt/kick returner. That would be our biggest interest I would guess.

Thanks for stopping by Brad.

Very interesting news, Brad. I'm anxious to see the confirmation, because Reed would instantly be in the mix as a return man.

JR Reed can be a quality return man, but he's a pretty good safety, even after his injury. He played well in coverage during the preseason and flat out laid out some guys. A few decleaters. He took an insane shot himself when returning a punt and got right back up. JR is one tough guy.

Re: Seems like you guys got JR Reed from us

Its official. We cut Hagans to make room for him.

The Rams signed DB/KR J.R. Reed on Monday, releasing WR Marques Hagans to make room for him. Reed played in Philadelphia since 2004 and was primarily used on special teams.
(Updated 09/04/2006).

You know what I would have done.

Sign JR Reed
Cut Dwaine Carpenter

Sign Skyler Green
Cut Marques Hagans

Atleast though, we got a Special Teams component.

Re: Seems like you guys got JR Reed from us

Frankly I'm not all that surprised that Carpenter didn't get cut. The staff is familiar with him from this spring and summer and they know what they have. Reed brings something to the table as a return man but is coming off a very serious injury. If the Rams had cut Carpenter to make room for Reed, and Reed has a setback, then we have no veteran free safety to back up Atogwe and Bartell. I dunno, it makes sense to me.

Originally I was thinking they would cut Carp for Hagans, so that's where my curiosity came from, then we signed Reed so my first thought was Carp again, but it makes sense to keep Carp for depth.

Re: Seems like you guys got JR Reed from us

I saw JR reed ay Eagles training camp, then play live in the HOF game. The kid has alot of heart and has two concussions in preseason to prove that point.

He looked fast in training camp. My wife is pissed beyond belief about this. Time to take her to see "Invincible".

He's already told us that terrible truth, his wife's only flaw is being an Eagles fan, right alpha? :\ She has to convert NOW!

I am happy with getting Reed, he's clearly an upgrade, when healthy.
