Seven-Time Pro Bowl wide receiver and Super Bowl winner joins NFL Network as analyst
From NFL.com
Former St. Louis Rams Pro Bowl wide receiver Torry Holt joins NFL Network and will make his debut as an analyst on Tuesday, Dec. 28, it was announced Monday by Eric Weinberger, executive producer of NFL Network.
Holt, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl XXXIV champion, will serve as a studio analyst on "NFL Total Access" and other NFL Network shows and specials. He will make his debut on the "NFL Total Access: Pro Bowl Selection Show" Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. ET.
As the sixth overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft of the St. Louis Rams, Holt spent 10 of his 11 years playing with the Rams. In his rookie year, Holt was an integral part of the Rams' Super Bowl XXXIV winning team, setting the rookie record for receptions (7) and receiving yards (109) in a Super Bowl.
"Torry had an outstanding playing career and he is another Pro Bowl and Super Bowl winning analyst that we are adding to our team," said Weinberger.
He is the fourth member of the Rams "Greatest Show on Turf" offense who is now an NFL Network analyst joining Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner and Trent Green. Holt has previously appeared on NFL Network as a guest analyst.
Holt finished his eleven-year playing career as one of the great wide receivers of all-time, ranking 10th on the all-time receiving yards list with 13,382 career yards, including eight consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving (2000-2007). Additionally, Holt finished with 920 career receptions and 74 career touchdowns.
A native of Gibsonville, NC, Holt attended North Carolina State University, where he played wide receiver from 1995-1998. During his senior year, Holt had 88 receptions (then an ACC record) and set a school record with 16 receiving touchdowns on the way to a First-team All-America selection.
NFL Network airs seven days a week, 24 hours a day on a year-round basis and is the only television network fully dedicated to the NFL and the sport of football. For more information, log on to wwww.nfl.com/nflnetwork. NFL.com is the exclusive internet home of NFL Network.

He was pretty smooth on the NFL draft one year. He may not be cut out for play-by-play, though.

Does this end his career as a player because awhile back on chatting with Torry Holt at the official website, he showed interest in playing in the NFL (specifically for the Rams) once more.

You wanna know what I remember its BIG GAME!
I specfically remember the "juggle" catch that was in like 08 maybe or maybe it was further back but it was amazing. He juggled it and then caught the ball one handed behind his back. Not sure if he could do it twice but that was the best catch ive ever seen.
Ok turns out it was 06 and vs the seahawks that he made that amazing catchLast edited by sjacksonrules; -12-27-2010 at 11:03 PM. Reason: new info

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought lordwhttgr was refering to a Carolina game a few weeks ago where Holt was an analyst. If so, he's right about Holt doing better because he was absolutely awful doing that game. It was embarrassing to listen to. It doesn't surprise me though that the NFL Network hired him, they're the same network that actually hired Bryant Gumbel to do Thursday Night games.

What does this mean for his playing career? I'd love to have him back next year. He belongs to St. Louis and it would be a privilege to watch Torry Big Game Holt and Sam The Ram Bradford play together. Obviously I wouldn't want it to stunt the other WR's growth or steal a lot of playing time, but maybe as a 3rd down specialist or something.

You obviously haven't heard the cockiest person in the world (Prime) speak about the Rams...
Steve Mariucci: "You gotta give it up to those St. Louis Rams, 1-15 last year and now fighting for the playoffs...good job Spags."
Another analyst on the show during sunday pre game asked "Who will win today, San Francisco ***** or St. Louis Rams...
Primes answer: "Who cares?"
This guy is bashing our Rams and the NFC West. Also when they did the Top 100 players, he was voted at 34. He absolutely flipped, and when he found out that Mariucci got to vote, he slapped him on the set.
Well here it is..Mr. Cocky himself : NFL Videos: Sanders appalled by spot in 'Top 100'
And here is him slapping Steve Mariucci : NFL Videos: Prime gets revenge

Irvin, Prime, and Eisen was almost as good a combo as the gang from TNT's Inside the NBA. Point being there was great on-screen chemistry between them, and IMO it was kinda dumb to break them up. I don't care about what Prime thinks about the Rams just like I don't care what Barkley thinks of the Nuggets. That last video is great TV man lol.
