Pretty sad that an professional NFL franchise- who had this guy so highly touted and was pursuing him so vigorously- can't even get him to come in for an interview and at least entertain an offer. Instead, he takes a position with an aging team that has ranked near the bottom of the league in offense, has no good young players on that side of the ball, and has no franchise QB. It wasn't like he took a posh position with a team is on the brink of winning the Superbowl. The Rams have much more talent on offense than the Ravens do- even if Lineclown was unable to do anything with it. (Yes, I know that wasn't his fault either.) That leads me to believe one of the following:
1.) He didn't feel the Rams were serious about pursuing him
2.) Scoot Linehan did absolutey nothing to impress him during their much heralded phonecall.
3.) He knew what the Rams were offering and it wasn't close to what the Ravens were offering
4.) The Rams Page Ranking people were blowing smoke up everyone's azz and really had no intention of landing the guy
5.) He saw what Hurricane Linehan has done to this franchise, sees the writing on the wall that everyone else seems to, and doesn't feel like looking for a new job next year.

Re: Shefter: Rams to interview Cameron later this week
Maybe he wanted to go to the Ravens because they had a crap offense. Anything he does there would be an improvement, because they have been poor for so long. But if he were to come to the Rams he would be expected to provide Martz-esque results from the OC position, which was when the Rams had the best offense in the league. There is a lot of pressure on whoever takes this OC position to get results, especially with the talent the Rams have on offense. Its not out of the question to assume Cameron, after being under pressure as HC of the Dolphins, wants a job now in which he can take it relatively easy. He wouldnt have that as Rams OC

Several problems with your Linehan defense here:
1.) NFL jobs are at a premium and besides for Bill Cowher, not many unemployed coaches turn down interviews. I'm not saying he had to take it, but he pretty much slapped the Rams in the face by not even offering them the opportunity to sit down and talk with him.
2.) How does going to a team with absolutely NO offensive talent and a SuperBowl winning coach that just got fired because he couldn't produce enough offense in his tenure- create an atmosphere of less pressure? Of course he's expected to create a good offense there- that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
3.) The Rams actually have talent, they just didn't have the right coach to utitlize it. As long as Linehan doesn't become involved in the offense again, the pieces are in place to do well in St. Louis.

2006- Both Bulger and Jackson had career seasons....Who was the Headcoach?
2007- As has been said a Gazillion times the o-line injuries handcuffed our offensive production big time. The pieces where there and still are there. Can they stay healthy for a whole season?

I'm sorry, didn't Linehan relinquish the OC position to Scott Olson in 2006 because he was so ineffective in that position? You can't use the injury excuse there. Also, that was Jackson's real first full year as a starter- so making that statement is misleading. Both have also had their worst seasons under the Linehan regime- when he was actually calling the plays.
