SJax to be a Free Agent after this year....

I didn't know this -- but it actually could be a good thing if the Rams want to sign a bunch of free agents

SJax has a clause where if he rushes/catches:

2011 1105 520 (estimated) yards

It will void the final 2 years of his contract.

I know he is a workhorse and all we have right now, but a Running Back's life is short in the NFL and he is always injured.

For 2 years, we have said we will find a backup, which we have but none of youth.]]

I know every year at this time there is a post that we should trade SJax, and he still has a couple of good years left but this could be a concern if he wants to leave to go to a contender.

Not sure he will reach those numbers if he can't stay healthy. It is coming to that point in his career, where the Rams have to start looking to the future. I would like to draft a RB that can play behind SJ for a year or so... If SJ goes down then we have the young guy to step in and possible take over.

Wouldn't mind taking a look at Trent Richardson but at this point, I would rather have a CB or WR in the 1st round. We should be able to find Jackson's successor in later rounds though or McD will do the 3-RB system.

We should pick up a RB in the last rounds of the draft and keep SJ for now. Heck Fread Jackson, Blount and many others were not even drafted. There is good RB's out there we just have to take time and find em.

We have Spags, who wants to run the ball, and McDaniels, who, more than likely, wants to throw the ball. We've got Sam Bradford who is also a gunslinger. The emphasis on RBs, unfortunately for Spags, isn't what it should be at this point. We need WRs, O-line, and D. Maybe we don't like it, but if we don't have SJax, we'll probably stick with Williams. Theoretically, from a McDaniels' offensive standpoint, that's not that big of a deal.

Probably a moot point. 4 games into the season he's got 124 yards rushing and 19 yards receiving, plus he's still not 100% and the offense in in shambles.

I understand where you are coming from but I would not pass on a left Tackle like Matt Khalil if he's available. Then we could move Saffold to the right side and either shift Jason Smith to guard (like the Raiders did with Gallery, and Dallas did with Leonard Davis) and maybe , finally, have the OL stabilized.

Did you read the Thomas piece where he said that the Rams Tackles alone have given up 7.5 sacks in just 4 games. Doing the math that equates to them giving up 30(!!) sacks on Sam by themselves.

That sux by any standard.

BTW if we don't get Mr. Bradford some protection it won't matter who or how many "weapons" we have. It is difficult to throw a football from a hospital bed....

I can't believe his time is coming to an end. I don't think Steven will leave this team. Im sure they can re-work something for cheaper. I never want to see Jackson in any other jersey, though at the same time I feel so bad for him. His amazing talent was wasted.

Man the day SJ39 gets in another jersey is the day I'll want to cry... I'd love to see him stay in a Rams uniform but you never know how things will turn out since this is the NFL. hated seeing Bruce in a a whiner jersey...yuck!

The thing about SJax is the football he autographed (that I have) has his name, number, and "RAMS" on it. I hope he stays with us.

Not only are the Rams 4 games into the season and he has only 124 yards but with the Rams likely to be playing from behind most games the Rams will be passing more than running the rest of the season.
