    Softli taking the heat

    Latest from profootballtalk.com

There's talk in league circles that Rams V.P. of player personnel Tony Softli could be terminated by the organization after the end of the season.

Softli joined the Rams in 2005, making the jump from the Panthers.

It's presently unclear whether the Rams will keep their current front-office structure moving forward. Before Softli, Charley Armey served as the team's General Manager, but former coach Mike Martz had authority over the personnel.

The combine is around the corner, major Draft prep should be in progress.

I don't know that the Rams know what they are going to do and who's going to be running things.

We need something to be done with the front office, no doubt.

That makes sense. Get rid of the only football guy in the FO.

    Re: Softli taking the heat

This is the first time I heard of Softli's possible termination. Granted, perhaps he is PART of the reason for the RAMS 2007 season. But Linehan is the other part.

Fact is to reach the NFL level, its a given a player has talent. True personal issues often detracts from that talent and success. But its the HC and staff that develops that talent and works it into a system. Can anyone say Linehan and crew did their part?

If Softli's neck meets the ax, then perhaps its time to hire the Pats talent scouts....all it will take is money--likely lots of it, but you get what you pay for, except in the Rams case

youre right...the Rams organization is slowly digging their own grave.

    1) We're keeping Scott Linehan
    2) We're releasing Softli

if only the Rams team could be like mine on Madden. HAHA
We'd be undefeated with Bob Sanders and Brian Dawkins as DB's.

Is digging?---No its dug and plenty deep too, just need a corpse, and perhaps a head stone. Throw in a bagpiper playing "Amazing Grace" and a few mourners dressed in black and you have the makings for a fine funeral. Still your right there Mooselini, things look pretty grim

i agree with you. however, i think injuries have kept our offense from showing what we can really do. my honest opinion.

i say, we need to strengthen our players...maybe linehan's training routine softened them up? who knows...all we can do is find out preseason next year....

    Re: Softli taking the heat

Softli is feeling the heat ?? You've got to be kidding!! Haven't we been informed that Tony has absolutely no say in who is ultimately drafted? Yes, yes he can make recommendations, but that's it. Av hit the nail on the head with this one. I would much rather have Softli entirely in charge of who we draft than Linehan, Shaw or Ziggy. I hope this rumor from PFT is just nonsensical hearsay ...

Oh, man this is a joke.

Softli is the best of the best, as far as FO personnel goes. He knows football and that's something you can't teach Shaw and his moneymen. We've drafted well, and this is the last guy I want as a scapegoat. I mean the very last.
