Some Encouraging Numbers From Our Rookie Class
Here are a few stats to chew on when evaluating our rookie class...
Daryl Richardson ranks 4th among rookie RBs in yards.
Darly Richardson ranks 6th among all rookies in yards from scrimmage.
Chris Givens ranks 4th among rookie WRs in receiving yards (Brian Quick is currently 14th).
Michael Brockers ranks 5th among all rookies in sacks (1st among rookie DTs).
Janoris Jenkins ranks 10th among all rookies in tackles (1st among CBs).
Janoris Jenkins ranks 2nd (tied) among all rookies in passes defended.
Johnny Hecker ranks 2nd in punting average and net yards among 5 rookie punters (behind only Bryan Anger who was drafted in Rd. 4).
I'd say that's a pretty good start for the class.
Re: Some Encouraging Numbers From Our Rookie Class
Richardson isn't even a starter and Brockers missed considerable time.
The Rams primary needs going forward are RT, OLB, S and depth everywhere. They fill those needs with very good players, this team is a serious contender in the NFC West in 2013. Amazing considering their needs going into this year and last.

Exactly right.
Truth is, I could have also posted that Richardson leads rookie RBs with a 5.7 ypc, but I thought that would be a bit skewed as he only averages about 7-8 carries per game. Still, he has been very impressive for a 7th round pick.

Brockers is the most impressive rookie we drafted. Sunday he was a game changer IMO. He is going to be great. I recall reading the draft analyst said Brockers can't get sacks, coach Mike Waffle said we'll see about that!
Re: Some Encouraging Numbers From Our Rookie Class
Richardson was a steal....he ranks FIRST (with 5 or more avg carries per game) among rookies in av yds per carry with 5.7!!

...and you didn't even mention LEGATRON. I know he hasn't been perfect but he was an absolute find!
Re: Some Encouraging Numbers From Our Rookie Class
Johnny Hekker has more passing yards this season than Tim Tebow
Re: Some Encouraging Numbers From Our Rookie Class
I can't remember the last time the Rams got so much production from a 7th round pick. With most of picks really contributing. It was a huge shame Rok Watkins got injured in the opener otherwise, based on who has started there since, he'd still be starting at LG.
Two more draft classes like this and this team will be championship caliber.

Boudreau scrambled when Rok went down and found some nuggets. He'll be back and the OL will be better and much deeper for it.

when Devaney was gm we seemed to get no production from 4th to 7th rounders. Just this year Snead drafted Richardson, Givens and Zuerlein between rounds 4 and 7. Fisher gets all the love but Snead has done a great job.
Re: Some Encouraging Numbers From Our Rookie Class
Very good numbers for those guys, the thing about having such a successful first draft is that it will be hard to replicate as we get more talent we wont have so many drafted starters because the overall talent has gone up.But that is a good problem to have, nonetheless this draft class has already proved to be a very nice class, and two of our 2nd rounders havent really done anything.Imagine when they start to produce we will look back at this class and say WOW what a great class.
