Some positive news on injury front

The St. Louis Rams got some good news on the injury front today:

*T Jason Smith, who suffered a concussion in practice last week and missed Sunday's game, returned to the field on a limited basis. Coach Steve Spagnuolo passed an exertion text Tuesday, experiencing no symptoms afterward.

*S James Butler's injury has been diagnosed as a low-ankle sprain; it originally was thought to be a more serious high-ankle sprain. It's not inconceivable that Butler could be ready for the next game, Nov. 14 in San Francisco.

*RB Steven Jackson got in some work at practice, and caught a couple of passes using both hands. Jackson had surgery last week to repair a broken ring finger on his left hand.

Spags passed an exertion text? Didn't know he was injured. Just what is an exertion text anyway? Texting with a hammer? Phone must be a TIMEX takes a beating and keeps on texting.

the Spags thing made me think about the Portland Trailblazers. A couple of years ago they were so incredibly short-handed due to injury the coach was participating in practice so they would have a full squad, and promptly tore his achilles tendon. Ouch, right?

Great news on Smith. He is progressing, and the best way to keep that up is to keep him on the field.
