    Some Rams Notes from ProFootballWeekly

Not a whole lot of new stuff here, but we're all starved for information...

Rams depending on rookies to get job done at nose tackle
    St. Louis

The Rams continue putting up a good front regarding their total lack of experience at the NT position in the wake of former first-round pick Jimmy Kennedyís June 8 trade to Denver. After finally being fed up with Kennedyís inability to embrace the more grunt-like nature of the nose tackleís role in the teamís defensive system, the Rams appear quite willing to put their faith in a rookie trio, led by 2007 first-round pick Adam Carriker, to handle the position. Carriker, who primarily played end in college at Nebraska and was sporting a lean, mean 296-pound frame as recently as this yearís Scouting Combine, now has his weight up to the 313-pound range. We hear the Rams have had nothing but positive things to say about Carriker and his rookie backups Clifton Ryan (fifth round) and the high-intensity Keith Jackson (seventh round). Ryan, who rebounded from an injured leg early in the Ramsí workouts this offseason, physically looks more like a NT type than Carriker, in addition to having the best understanding of the position among the Ramsí rookie defensive tackles. As for the teamís other DT spot, team insiders donít expect Claude Wrotenís recent arrest on criminal-damage charges to impede the major progress many close observers believe he has made this offseason in his battle to take away playing time from wily veteran LaíRoi Glover.
    • While it must be considered a long shot at this stage in the offseason, we hear a trade by the Rams for disgruntled Panthers DT Kris Jenkins is not dead in the water yet, by any means.
    • Word is the Rams have been more than a little impressed with the size and range of long-armed veteran free agent Lenny Walls at the CB position. In the teamís mid-June minicamp, Walls performed admirably on the first team as a replacement for 2006 No. 1 pick Tye Hill, who was held out with a staph infection.

Apparently, the team insiders haven't heard the lucid requests to "cut him now" as heard from some corners of ClanRam.

Hear from whom? Internet fans? annonymous "insiders"? reporter breakroom? voices in one's head?

Anybody else shudder a little thinking about Walls as our #1 corner?
