Some Random Thoughts...
Parallels to 1999...(just a thought)
We get our OC from the Redskins.
Trent Green is on the team.
HC is forced to adjust his approach to coaching.
The Rams have a high draft pick.
Coming off a horrific season.

and, FWIW, I would hope that Saunders would be somewhat familiar with the NFC East's defenses, having had to plan against them for two years. Anyway, sure can't hurt.
I also wonder sometimes if the Rams aren't guilty of playng to the level of their opponents. I doubt starting off against AZ, SF and Carolina scared the team as much as Philly, NY and Seattle will this year.
And that's a good thing for a couple reasons.
1) I think we need to play the best to accurately gauge where the team is REALLY at, and
2) The team should realise that there will be very little, if any, room for errors in those games.
If we take it as a given that one of, (if not), the best things that happened in the off season was acquiring Saunders, and he has some early success, it might serve to bring back a little of our previoius swagger, which has been lacking of late.
Saunders is not going to surprise teams like Martz did, but I think he has a better mix to work with than he did in KC and Washington.
I am admitedly, (and unashamedly), a glass is half-full kind of guy, but I really don't see any reason not to look forward to next year...
(other shoe drops) ...except for Linehan.
Not a slam, but I have to wonder what kind of effect he REALLY has on the team, as this is critical. I think that was one of Vermiel's strong suits - they may have hated him, but they respected him - and it's important Linehan understands this, and has the team behind him.
And i'm not saying he doesn't, just that he needs to set the tone, and they need to buy into it.
Bring it on! I think we'll be ready.
