Some rare love from media to Martz

Below is an excerpt from Lindy's NFL Preview. They are picking the Rams to win the West, with the Cards and Hawks tying for 2nd. They ranked Martz as the 5th best HC in the league: 1. Belicheck, 2. Parcells, 3. Reid, 4. Cowher, 5. Martz
To many, Martz is an enigma, a riddle, wrapped in a question mark. He has become the largest target for local and national media with sniping remarks. Martz has been stepping on hot coals from day one as head coach of the Rams. Replacing Dick Vermeil, who had instantly become beloved after winning a Super Bowl, the masses began scrutinizing Martz right out of the gates. Seemiingly, each misstep blew to a point that the picture becomes too grainy to visualize the initial point. Regardless of analytical means, Martz has managed through two personnel transitional periods to keep the Rams among the top drawer teams. Over the last two years, the Rams tied for the 5th most wins in the NFL. Over the last three years, the Rams rank 3rd in total wins among NFC teams. Since 2000, the Rams rank fifth in the NFL in wins. Just as important are the quality wins. Since 2000, the Rams have a 20-13 record during the regular season against teams that finished with a winning record. The Rams lead the NFL in winning percentage (.606) against teams that finished with winning records. For comparative purposes, during the same timeframe in the NFC, Philadelphia is 13-13 against teams that finished with a winning record, while Green Bay posted a 17-15 mark. Martz has led the Rams to the playoffs four of five seasons at the helm. Why it has become vogue to criticize Martz is too abstract a topic to delve into, butthe fact is that despite monumental injuries, two defensive facelifts and the loss of more free agents than any other coach since the end of 1999 season, MARTZ WINS. respect the facts, don't be a hater when it comes to Martz. Be an appreciator

Wow...something positive? Now if we could get this guy on ESPN or NFL network, saying the same thing....that would really be awesome!

Not that I disagree with what was written, but its hardly an indication that the media is turning around on Martz. It was written by John Hadley. I think Martz actually might be signing Hadley's paychecks this year.

and HowardB is a major contributor to Lindy's.

One thing I've noticed, is that the better you may be the more people try to bring you down. Lot's of folks have been attacking Martz and all he does is get the Rams to the playoffs four out of five years. Do you hear folks recently attacking Gruden?

I wonder why. Keep attacking Martz media types, that means the Rams are right in the thick of things.

    Parcells #2? :tut
Aside from taking a crapy team into the playoffs his first year and loosing what has he accomplished in the last five seasons?
I think he is very overrated; people judge him from past success.

Should of known. Martz finally gets some good press, and come to find out it was written by his subordinate. :tut
