Spagnuolo "agonized" over Moss decision
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on November 4, 2010 10:07 AM ET
31 teams passed on a chance to pick up Randy Moss Thursday. It sounds like the St. Louis Rams were the closest to taking the plunge, other than Tennessee.
Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch recounts a conversation with Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo. The coach didn't want to be quoted, but Miklasz says the coach "agonized" over the decision, deliberating and working towards his final answer for days.
We think he made the right decision. There's no guarantee Moss would want to join the Rams, like he did with the Titans. Perhaps more importantly, Moss makes no sense to add unless you are competing for a championship. Half a season isn't worth the possible problems otherwise.
While the Rams can remain competitive and even steal the NFC West, they aren't yet competing for an NFL title. Spagnuolo has the Rams headed in the right direction, and they are making the right moves gradually.
Renting Moss wouldn't have put them over the top.

Wow hard to be in his shoes eh? Its nice to see that at the very least they were considering it and doing their homework.
