Spagnuolo: Starters Will Play About A Quarter vs. Jets
Spagnuolo: Starters will play about a quarter vs. Jets
By Bill Coats
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
For the first time since the start of training camp nearly two weeks ago, the St. Louis Rams weren’t in full pads for a morning practice. Coach Steve Spagnuolo is pulling back on the hitting as Friday night’s preseason opener vs. the Jets in New York approaches.
Spagnuolo indicated Wednesday that his starters will get about a quarter’s worth of action. “I’m not going to put a number on it. Let’s say first quarter, and there’s a chance they’ll come out in the first quarter, maybe come in the second quarter. Somewhere in that range,” he said.
He also said that he plans to use all four quarterbacks.
Notes & quotes:
*Rookie DT Darell Scott missed practice with inflammation in his left knee. “We’re going to try to get him to the game on Friday, so we’ll just rest him a little bit,” Spagnuolo said.
*CB Ron Bartell skipped team drills because of what Spagnuolo described as “soreness in the hamstring.” Justin King took over for Bartell with the first unit.
*S Craig Dahl (hamstring) stepped up his individual work.
*DT Adam Carriker (ankle) remains sidelined.
*S Oshiomogho Atogwe had a pretty interception, leaping high to snare a Kyle Boller pass intended for Jarrett Byers.
*LB Will Witherspoon and emerging CB Quincy Butler also picked off passes.
*Sports Illustrated’s Peter King was in attendance, as the parade of national writers continues at Rams Park.
*Also at the morning practice were former Rams Grant Williams and Arlen Harris.
All for now . . . more following the afternoon practice.

So much for Bulger playing for a half or into the 3rd quarter... then again, you never know.
A shame to see more and more guys on the injury list, but nothing too serious so far it seems. AC's no surprise, he's out 2 weeks.
Great to see the defense getting after the ball, though I'd like to hope that it's just their ability and not bad passes.

CB Quincy Butler - guy on the radio said he's really impressing the coaches.

Doesn't really surprise me. The starters don't usually play a lot until the third week.
Still very sad to see more players added to the list. Q. Butler is starting to grow on me.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!
