Can Spags turn us into an NFC East team in 1 year?

Re: Spags?
I think it'll take two years to get all the personnel that he wants and needs. Between a full year to evaluate and another draft, I think we'll be able to see next year what the future of the Rams will really look like. This year is more of a demo version.

Re: Spags?
Yep. Assuming you mean defense, it takes a while to make such a massive transition. It's part of the scheme argument. You need players that fit your scheme and Spags doesn't even know fully what he has in Long, Carriker, Ryan and Scott. That's where it all begins.
Next year the Rams will need a DE and maybe a CB. We'll see how the youngsters develop. Fletcher, King, Hill and Wade could all be great or they could all be Taje Allen type players. Bartell took several years to develop and several of these guys were classified as raw projects coming out of college.

If the team is moved, then yes.

Re: Spags?
I chose we don't wanna play like east, heck we want the GSOT back, seriously. However, I would like to see us get competitive almost immediately. Hopefully something develops this year, but If next year will bring in a Superbowl champ then I guess I'll have to wait. PLEASE NEED A WINNER NOW!

Re: Spags?
I really think Spags will turn around team around very quickly by going to the NFC East style of football. "SMASHMOUTH"!

Re: Spags?
I think Spags will prove to be a true leader of men, something lacking in Rams' Park for too long. The Rams will conjure up their own "style" of play under Spagnolo's leadership and it likely will be one other teams will wish to emulate ..

Re: Spags?
I get the feeling Spags is something special and that he's going to lead the Rams to respectability, this season.

Re: Spags?
Can he? Absolutely. Pulling a 6 or 7 win swing from one year to the next is not unheard of........it can be done, and is done by some team just about every year.
Do I expect it to happen? Can't say that. It's an uphill road that will take 100% committment and 100% good fortune (ie. few injuries)."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Spags?
Hell, the Dolphins went on a 10 game turnaround last year, so it's extremely POSSIBLE that it could happen, just not PROBABLE.
As I said, I expect that Spags and Devaney need one more draft and offseason to pull in the players that they want and need to build the team they want, mainly on defense. Let's look at that, shall we?
Offense
QB Set, but need one for the future... 2010 1st/2nd round pick
RB Set, but need backup... 2010 Free agent/ midround pick
WR Work in Progress... Acquisition depends on performance
TE Set... no moves planned
OT Set... possible 2010 acquisition depending on Barron, need depth
OG Set... possible 2010 acquisition depending on RG(Cogs, Greco)
C Set... no moves planned
Defense
DE Need Starter... Need to replace Little with younger option, 2010 1st-3rd round pick
DT Set... possible 2010 free agent acquisition
OLB Need starter... 2010 Free agent SAM linebacker
MLB Set... no moves planned
CB Need starter... Could already be on roster, otherwise 2010 1st/2nd round pick
S Set... no moves planned
So in all, it looks like a possible 5 positions on offense and 4 positions on defense all need new talent, including 5 starting caliber guys(QB, WR, SAM, CB, DE). Now, the WR and CB guys could already be on the roster, so those moves are less likely, but nevertheless still possible.

Re: Spags?
Yes. Spagnuolo has already turned us into an NFC East type team. We've got everything set in stone on the Offensive side of the ball to have a Power Running game, and right now he's forming our defense to be that way. We have the mentality, and the idea of an NFC East team. We just haven't went out and performed that way. Do I believe we'll be like the Giants, Eagles and Redskins, next season? No, but we've done everything so far to create a team with the same sense of scheme and philosophy.
