Special teams coaching doesn't seem to be the problem, lack of quality special teams personnel is the ongoing issue. Nothing will change until the personnel changes.

Our "wedge" looks more like a wall that our kick returner can't even get through. On coverage it looks like pure anarchy; everyone running in different directions. No or little talent on the "not so" special teams. Management needs to make an emphasis on improving special teams.

I'm less concerned with the returns than when we are supposed to be on coverage.

    Re: Special teams

Special teams has got to become a priority for this organization during the off-season. I'm not saying we have to have the best special teams in the league, but I'm sick and tired of it costing us games. It's been a very long time since we've been even adequate.

If it takes Martz making starters available for the unit, so be it. Everything we've tried in the last few years has failed miserably...it's time to try something different. Why isn't Curtis returning punts or kick-offs....he's the fastest guy on the team?

    Re: Special teams

Someone on the Rampagers list suggested that it's because injuries and the gameplan itself have forced us to keep offensive players active on the gameday roster, meaning there are fewer defensive players available for special teams. Just an idea.
