2006 scouting report

Strengths: Outstanding anticipation and perfect touch. Excellent poise and toughness. He's a quiet leader who comes to play. Compact throwing motion allows him to make throws other quarterbacks struggle with. Very good at leading his wide receivers and putting the ball in areas only they can make the play. Very good with fade route in red zone.

Weaknesses: Lacks arm strength. Is a big time system QB. Struggles to make the throw to the deep outs. He has to throw the ball to spots to have success. Not the lightest on his feet.

Bottom line: Bulger struggled in 2005 due to injuries. He'll need to get plenty of work in the new offense to get back to the high level he played at during in 2004. He has the talent around him to control the flow and the smarts to make the right decisions.

Fantasy Update:

Bulger is a fine leader and passer, but his modest TD numbers and history of injuries make him a risky buy at his high price in Ultimate Fantasy Football. He's second only to Peyton Manning. In addition, switching coaches from Mike Martz to Scott Linehan will lead to fewer passing attempts as running back Steven Jackson gets more involved.
