St. Louis Rams Add FB Brit Miller To Injured Reserve

The St. Louis Rams will send yet another player to the injured reserve list, according to Jim Thomas. Fullback Brit Miller joins the 14 other players currently finishing their season on IR. Cornerback Nate Ness was promoted from the practice squad to take his place.

Miller injured his knee in practice last week. For those of you keeping score at home, that's the fourth player whose season ended because of an injury sustained in practice or off the field this season. Cornerbacks Jerome Murphy and Bradley Fletcher both suffered season-ending injuries in practice this year. Tackle Rodger Saffold tore a pectoral muscle while lifting weights during the season.

When you look at the list of players on injured reserve and what put them there, nothing stands out other than just bad luck. So many of those injuries are just fluky happenings that can't really be blamed on any one factor. You wonder a little if some of the rookies and fringe roster guys on the list if there's a technique issue, but it really is just an unbelievable run of bad luck.

As far as excuse making goes, let's not get too carried away. The injuries have exposed poor coaching and bad personnel moves that left the roster devoid of adequate depth. As I mentioned yesterday, Seattle's offensive line has suffered as many season-ending injuries as the Rams line has, but the results are different.

Do you think it is worthwhile to do some analysis on toehr teams training to see if the technique could be changed to reduce this anamoly? It seems way over the usual limit of injuries?? I am wondering if that part of the staff needs to be bolstered as well.

How many injuries occurred in practice?
    On turf?
    In weight room?
    in games

How do we stack up against other teams?

While obviously not the same, I made a career out of doing root causal analysis to understand where to deploy resources, change processes etc. Seems to me, tha talthough this year is of a higher incident factor, Rams have had issues the last few years. ??

Well the good news is that now Nate Ness is on the active roster. That should fix all the problems in the secondary.

Gosh we have more players on IR (15) than we score points per game. Kind of goes hand in hand......I guess?
