St. Louis Rams add S Dahl and WR Lucas
By Jim Thomas
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The Rams added a pair of roster candidates Tuesday, signing safety Craig Dahl and wide receiver Chad Lucas.
Dahl played in nine games with two starts in 2007 as an undrafted rookie with the New York Giants. He missed all of 2008 after suffering a preseason knee injury.
Lucas has played in three career games with Green Bay and Tampa Bay. He also has experience in NFL Europe and the Arena Football League.

Re: St. Louis Rams add S Dahl and WR Lucas
Well, seeing that Devaney and Demoff have a keen eye for talent in this league and havent done us wrong so far, I would assume that this is another good move, EVEN THOUGH I dont know diddly squat about either of these players. I would figure that they will probably be backups or come in on situational plays. Or it might be that we dont have enough depth at those positions.

Dahl played under Spags, so our new HC must have some idea of his ability.

Dahl was an undrafted rookie free agent that signed with the Giants in 2007. He played in 9 games and started 2 that year. Last year he was injured the entire year.

Spags snares another ex-Giant
Craig Dahl, who was a starting safety on the Giants 2007 team before suffering a knee injury, has signed with the St. Louis Rams.
Dahl, of course, went from the longest of long shots — an undrafted rookie out of North Dakota State — to a starting safety on the Giants’ 2007 team. He tore his ACL in the regular season finale, though, and missed the Super Bowl run. He tried to make it back from that knee injury last year, but tore his other ACL in the Giants’ third preseason game and missed all of 2008.
Dahl would have been an “exclusive rights free agent” if the Giants had tendered him before the free-agent signing period began — meaning his only options would’ve been to sign with the Giants or sit out an entire season. However, the Giants chose not to tender him, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Re: St. Louis Rams add S Dahl and WR Lucas
Not only are these guys going to provide depth, but Spags has worked with one of the two. At least, based on the information provided. Don't know about his knowledge of Lucas though. All I know, is it appears to be smart positioning in relation to Cap Space. I am sure neither of these two will tank our current resevoir of funds, so that we can still make a big grab or two in FA and the draft if necessary.
On the topic of FA, if it wasn't for the fact that the guy wants to start, and probably will attempt to demand some money, having Byron Leftwich as a backup QB would make me feel safe. Maybe the fact that he wants to start would help push Bulger back into being the "Pro Bowl Bulger" that we once saw. Maybe it can happen.

Re: St. Louis Rams add S Dahl and WR Lucas
Chad Lucus reminds me of a smaller T.O and Dahl Was a Starter for the Super Bowl Season of the New York Giants in 07 but have injury problems ever since. Good Signings.

Re: St. Louis Rams add S Dahl and WR Lucas
He started a few games that season because of injuries. He wasn't a starter.
Most casual Giants fans wouldn't really know who Craig Dahl is unless they happened to see a preseason game from 2007 where by himself he gave up around 200 yards of passing yards and 3 touchdowns on 3 consecutive possessions(I don't know the exact numbers but it was a poor enough performance for someone to write an entire article in the newspaper the next day about how bad he was). I was able to get his autograph a couple of days after that game at the Giants training camp while a fan behind me yelled at him for being terrible.
It's good that the Rams are getting depth for positions but I hope that Dahl never has to start.
