Re: The St. Louis Rams have signed ...
Found this blurb on Douglas:
racked up production in college, but won't produce those kinds of numbers in the NFL. But if you dig into this kids game, you see a lot of potential. He isn't the biggest body, but his frame can take more weight, and he already knows how to uncoil and deliver punishing hits. Excellent technique, especially in the lower body. Does a fantastic job of getting and keeping low, and knows how to win battles in the trenches. Needs to learn to trust his strength in taking on blockers, but this isn't much of a knock, because he instead relies on superb hand technique to separate from defenders, and release from blocks. Has a great attitude and can bring leadership to the defense, and to special teams, where he could make an immediate contribution. Not very quick feet, but good hips for his size. He can turn and run enough not to be a liability, and he can drop quickly enough to cover medium downs. Has experience calling the defense from the field. A lot to like here.
Sounds like there might be some ST potential there.

Re: The St. Louis Rams have signed ...
Ian Campbell was good enough for a Combine invitation & put up respectable stats in the few drills he did.
Here's his Combine analysis:
Analysis Positives: Tall, productive player with adequate upper-body strength. ... Splits time standing up and playing with his hand down, although is almost always lined up in a nine-technique in either case. ... High-motor player, gives second effort to the quarterback and hustles downfield to ballcarriers. ... Uses his length and good initial quickness to shrink the pocket. ... Will crash down on inside runs. ... Holds up his tackle to spill run plays inside. ... Can wrap up in space.
Negatives: Classic end-outside linebacker "tweener" prospect. ... Thin in the legs and does not play with great leverage at the point. ... Lacks the straight-line speed to catch quick ballcarriers from behind. ... Does not use his upper-body strength and lacks consistent violent hand play to get off blocks of strong right tackles. ... Can not change direction quickly, runs tall and stiff. ... Few pass-rush moves, always uses an outside rush and lacks the cornering to immediately get to the QB. ... Relies on hustle and good coverage to get sacks. Fails to use his hands to prevent cut blocks on the edge, does not recover quickly. ... Often fooled by misdirection.
If he can put on weight & get coached up, he may have a shot. Nice video of this kid on nfldraftscout dot com. He's a fiery one. Likes sacking the QB and can block kicks, too.Last edited by Azul e Oro; -04-27-2009 at 02:19 AM.

Re: The St. Louis Rams have signed ...
Are DeSpags setting the table for Tebow in 2010? LOL
Phil Trautwein
Position: OL
Ht/wt: 6-foot-6, 310 pounds
Comment: Appeared in 46 games with 29 career starts at UF. A two-time All-SEC selection. He was a captain on the 2008 BCS champs. Graded out at 100-percent, missing no assignments, against Kentucky and The Citadel as a senior. Had a rocky BCS championship game against Oklahoma, a performance which could be the reason he wasn't invited to the NFL Combine. Also a high school wrestler, Trautwein has good strength.

Re: The St. Louis Rams have signed ...
Ian Campbell had 11 Sacks in 2006 and was Big 12 Defensive player of the Year. Impressive

Re: The St. Louis Rams have signed ...
I wondered what had happened to Trautwein & Campbell and am glad to see them in the mix. I've seen both play and IMO could provide adequate depth. Decent pick ups I believe...

Re: The St. Louis Rams have signed ...
Ian Campbell is the best name on the list. I like him, but he will have to beat out Eric Moore to get on the roster. IMO he is going to end up on the practice squad
