St. Louis Rams interview former Cowboys coordinator for d-backs job
Per STLtoday.com Jim Thomas
Brian Stewart, who spent the past two seasons as defensive coordinator in Dallas, interviewed Thursday for a defensive backs position with the Rams. More specifically, cornerbacks coach, according to league sources.
The Cowboys finished eighth in the NFL in total defense this season, and ninth in total defense in 2007 under Stewart. Nonetheless, he was dismissed at the end of this season in a staff shakeup after the underacheiving Cowboys failed to make the playoffs.
Stewart, 44, has a background coaching the secondary. He was defensive backs coach for the San Diego Chargers for three seasons (2004-06) and broke into NFL coaching as assistant secondary coach with the Houston Texans (2002-03). Earlier in his career, Stewart had two stints as an assistant at the University of Missouri _ in 1999 and 2000, and in 1996.

Brian Stewart's little sis is a very good friend of my wife, I hope he gets the job and can hook me up with some gear!

Sounds like a quality coach to have on our staff. Heck, anyone is better than Ron Milus!

I'd be fine with hiring him. He seemed to be a good Defensive Backs coach, just wasn't ready for the Coordinator role.

have to agree with Rambos and Bald...mad to think that a DC who has had his unit in the top 8 in both his seasons can only now get another job as a CB`s coach...seems like a good move for us.

As long as he's "NOT" bringing Pac-man Jones with him I'm good.

What a weird dismissal. He puts together back-to-back top 10 defenses in his 2 years and gets fired for it?

Re: St. Louis Rams interview former Cowboys coordinator for d-backs job
Yeah, but they had there let downs that they should have won from the Defense.
Obviously against us, they gave up 33 to Baltimore, 44 to Philadelphia, 35... they were 20th in scoring Defense, 30th in interceptions so, to us that'd be outstanding however for the Cowboy life, it's not to good.RamsFan16

Re: St. Louis Rams interview former Cowboys coordinator for d-backs job
I hear ya, 16, but they were still a top 10 in yardage. I haven't researched the 'Boys, but I would be curious to see how a top 10 defense is 20th in scoring. Did the offense give up points (pick-6, fumbles)? Did the ST put short fields on the Defense that allowed for little yards but easy points?
I don't know, and really not too concerned about it. But I am a little curious."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: St. Louis Rams interview former Cowboys coordinator for d-backs job
People credited Wade Phillips for the Cowboys defensive turnaround this season. Also, considering some of the talent he had they should have been a top 10 defense. He seems good for the DB coach job though.
