St. Louis Rams sign WR Ruvell Martin and LB Paris Lenon

The Rams have signed WR Ruvell Martin and LB Paris Lenon. Terms of the deals are undisclosed.

The 27 year old, 6-4, 220 lbs Martin has played his enough career with the Green Bay Packers. The talented wide receiver had a difficult time getting onto the field because of the immensely talented Green Bay wide receiver corp, but was always productive when he saw action. He should be familiar with the WCO terminology and should immediately contribute as a big physical target. Martin was a fan favorite in Green Bay primarily due to his propensity to deliver big hits on special teams and his willingness as an open field blocker.

The 31 year old, 6-2, 235 lbs Lenon has played the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions, averaging 119 tackles per year. The eight year veteran was most recently with the New England Patriots. The versatile linebacker should be an immediate contributor on special teams.

    Ruvell Martin-WR- Rams Sep. 15 - 7:51 pm et

Rams agreed to terms with WR Ruvell Martin, formerly of the Packers.

They signed him over Skyler Green, Chris Davis, and David Tyree. Martin, 27, lacks much explosiveness, but has reliable hands and can play special teams. He'll compete for fourth receiver duties with speedster Derek Stanley.

Not bad, there may be new possibilities but ... are we releasing a couple of players to make room in the roster?

Sitting next to two Packer fans, they were pretty disappointed the Pack let Martin go. Not gonna be a Pro Bowler but should contribute and help out our thin corp.

Of course one of them said he will be our second best receiver, but he's a big time Ram hater so take it for what its worth.

I like Ruvell, touchdown target and he can block for the running game. He's getting the same treatment from packers fans as Laurent got from falcon's fans.
Don't know much about Paris, but the staff obviously wanted an experienced guy who isn't making a lot of money.

That's a nice pic of Paris, he must be sucking on a warhead (damn they're sour)

Hmm. Interesting, but anything helps our WR corps.

I think the guys voted off the island might be QC and that new DT Ramsey.

Mixed feelings about the Lenon deal. He's an MLB,no? Just how dinged is Lau's knee?

I like the Martin idea. Curry may not have been the answer but The Rams still need that big possession guy, imo, & neither Burton nor any of the TEs stepped into the void last week. Not that they were given many chances, though, for one reason or another. If he can also contribute on STs ; all to the good.

I watched a bit of Lenon just now in Det vs Wash last year. Not great but disciplined-didn't bite on fakes a lot & brings the wood.

Interesting that they choose Lenon instead of trying to get Draft back.

Well these guys are cheaper, the new regime just isn't going to spend money on guys who are on the decline and/or don't fit into the scheme of things long term. It's a good move long-term, but in the interm its going to be painful.

its Linebacker depth..Lenon will do a similar job to what Draft would have done methinks..only be cheaper..know more about him than Ruvall Martin..tho both i know are former packers..i never seen Lenon without an helmet tho..so didnt realise till now he had Dungy/Spock ears..

Ruvall seems a good pick up..nice size for the red zone threat..someone who will block as a wideout and help on Special teams..id say he will go in as 4th Wideout and Stanley go down to 5th.. oh and lets not forget..we got the Packers next week in our first home game.. he may be able to give us a few tips, if not from their playbook, then certainly any hidden weaknesses the pack players may have.

I took a peek on the Packer forums to find nothing but positive's on Martin. AS for Lenon, THe Pats supporters mostly said he was garbage.
