St. Louis Rams Still Looking For Receivers; Fisher Notes Potential For Trade
by Ryan Van Bibber on Mar 14, 2012 11:39 AM CDT in NFL Free Agents 2012
The St. Louis Rams made an early splash in free agency by singing cornerback Cortland Finnegan. One move they have not made is adding help at wide receiver, though not for a lack of trying. At his Wednesday morning press conference, head coach Jeff Fisher said that the team is still looking for help at wide receiver and will explore several possibilities, including a trade.
The Rams tried to get Robert Meachem and Pierre Garcon to Rams Park for a visit late on Tuesday night. However, Washington snapped up Garcon with a deal worth around $8 million per season, and the Chargers nailed down Meachem later in the evening.
Fisher stressed the importance of bringing players to the building for a visit in order to gauge their chemistry and fit with the team. It was an usually frank, reasonable comment for this time of year. The Rams could very well have thrown money at a free agent wide receiver only to be very disappointed down the road.
Nevertheless, the Rams are not done shopping for a receiver. Fisher said that the 2012 draft class has "a lot of talent" at the position.
For those of you not wanting to wait, Fisher did also say that there were still some free agent wide receivers on the team's radar.
Even more intriguing, Fisher noted that there was still the potential for a trade. Essentially, he covered all the bases, but with two second-round picks this year and two first-round picks in 2013 and 2014, the Rams could definitely be players in the trade market if they so choose.

Santana Moss should be easily available now....and once the season starts teams like the Vikings (Percy Harvin), and Raiders (DHB), etc...will make more available

I would rather trade down a few more spots, gain a 2nd or 3rd and take Floyd.

No more trading down... It would be stupid to lose out on Blackmon, Richardson or Claiborne !!!!

I really think we're getting Blackmon at #6. Cleveland has no RB so Richardson looks like the pick. Tampa will most likely pick up Claiborne. We just need to hope that no one tries to jump our spot.

Hey Bibber,Even more intriguing, Fisher noted that there was still the potential for a trade. Essentially, he covered all the bases, but with two second-round picks this year and two first-round picks in 2013 and 2014, the Rams could definitely be players in the trade market if they so choose.
This is all well and good, and it could be intriguing if you had some possible players from certain teams that might be in a position to make a trade, otherwise, it's nothing more than obvious.
