ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
Who's side are you on?
With Steven Jackson being under contract through this season and the RAMS telling him come to camp and we will talk. Where does he get off holding out?
Football is about winning. That's why they "lift all them weights" and practice.
That's why we follow our favorite team and watch them play. That's why we spend our hard earned money on game tickets, parking, RAMS apparel etc...
There is a formula for winning and Steven Jackson is part of our formula.
Obviously I'm on the RAMS side with this issue.Last edited by laram0; -08-15-2008 at 06:56 AM.

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
I voted the Rams because I am a Rams fan first & will be tell they stuff me in the ground, hell even after they bury me. But I do kinda understand about Jackson's holdout. Just wish the 2 parties could get together & get the deal done

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
The fault is with BOTH parties.
- Jackson is under contract and belongs with the team.
- The team needs Jackson, and if their intention is to re-sign him, then they need to talk to him. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!

Last time I checked, no show equals no job.

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
I hope Jackson shows up soon and they get a deal done, but to be honest I'm glad the Rams are not budging on their decision to refuse to talk to him until he reports to work.
If the Rams stick to their guns here, it's going to show other potential holdouts that they must continue to participate in team activities while negotiating a new deal. If they buckle, it will lead to other players holding out in the future, knowing that Rams management will eventually cave in.

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
I guess i'm in the minority of being in S-Jax side. I think He has more than deserved the money and we really need him. Tons of players holdout to re-up and most don't deserve the cash they are asking for, but this guy does. It shows he wants to stay here and get paid or he would just wait and get big bucks from somewhere else or demand a trade to somewhere that would pay him ala Jared Allen, but he wants to negociate and stay here.

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
I would agree with you 39thebeast, except your analysis lacks one very important element..... the franchise tag. His wanting to re-up does NOT show he wants to stay a Ram. it just shows he wants the money now. The deal he was offered, if Ziggy's comment is any indicator, is in the neighborhood of about where a franchise tag contract would put him. By holding out, he shows he wants more than that.
I'm no fan of the FO, but SJ's got a year left which he's already been payed guaranteed money for, and; he acted the leader when he called out everyone (fans and teammates--- wr's especially) at the end of the season to do their job better but then no-shows.... which proves to me he wasn't acting the leader-- he was just being self-centered.
.... so i have to side with the team here.

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
There should be a neutral option, i'm still not leaning either way. One half of me says "come on front office just pay the man" and the other half says "come on SJ stop you're holdout then you talk about a new contract"

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
Give him the contract he wants, or we will be lucky to win 3 games this season.

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
I have to go with the team. SJ has a contract, and he has a employer willing to renegotiate that contract. All he has to do is show up, then negotiate.

Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON
Like I said from the beginning. I don't believe the contract the Rams offered him was that far off base, so showing up to camp probably would have showed returned good faith and would have gotten a deal done quickly. If not, then he could have walked out and I don't think he would have angered the fans. I know this poll isn't very scientific, but I'm pretty sure this is how a majority of Rams fans feel at the moment.
P.S.
If you desire to add a third option to this poll, how about "The French"? I like to blame them for everything!!!
