Re: ST. LOUIS RAMS vs STEVEN JACKSON

I'm on the Rams side but not versus Jackson, versus the agent. The Rams made a substantial offer and professed a willingness to continue negotiations during camp. IMO, that should have been enough to avoid the holdout. The team didn't franchise Jackson. They didn't low ball him, and they didn't say that was their final offer. Eugene Parker, the agent, is the one who broke off negotiations by deciding Jackson should hold out.

    Interesting poll L.A.

After I voted for the Rams I was surprised to see the strong support here in that direction.

I wonder, however, does that 'clause', i.e., requiring Jackson's presence at training camp in order to negotiate, still stand? Or have both sides moved on to a different, conditional give-and-take posture?

Something so simple yet so complicated!

I don't understand why he would walk out on the negotitation when the rams was making offers. One I heard was about 7.5 million a year with a 18 mill bonus. I understand to get things moving. I wounder to why management would paint themselves in a coner by saying negotitations would not continued untill he returns. But to answer the question I am with management.

Without a shred of any real evidence to prove "good faith" negotiations from either party, I certainly can't make a decision on who to side with. Way too many unknowns here.

The Rams. I believe that they have the right to say that he needs to attend camp to get a deal. It makes sense. Rather than not showing up until he gets a deal.

I believe that the Rams are doing the right thing. However, they should atleast tell him to show up JUST to negotiate. He doesn't need to parcipitate that day, but he can atleast get the deal he wants.

If we can't sign Jackson and he continues not to report(even tho he is under contract), should we bring Alexander in for at least a tryout?

I was for the Rams when this first started, but now it's time for them to step up and pay the man,did they not see the offense without him last weekend, the pissing contest needs to end,we need this guy,he is one of the 5 best players in the league and deserves to be paid, I don't like the way he has handled this, but I am sure there is alot to this we don't know.

I voted Rams! I would love to see Jackson on this team for many years, but players are getting out of control when it comes to their contracts. He should be in camp, he still has one year left on his current contract. What are players going to start signing long term contracts and hold out after the first year?

I'm on the Rams side here. Players should not have the right to hold teams ransom. If I got paid 7.5 million dollars a year I would do whatever was asked of me

The Rams offered and told S. Jackson of their desire to negotiate a new contract before camp so that he wouldnt hold out. Their offer was fair epecially for a first offer he should have shown a good faith effort and taken a leadership role in my opinion. Guess thats the way of the world. I'm on the ownerships side on this one.

It's already happening. Terrell Owens did it with the Eagles. Urlacher did it after just a couple with the Bears. It's just a matter of time until every player starts holding out every year for a new deal. I wonder if they have a crappy year- if ownership can lock them out of camp and renegotiate...
