Starting Corner draft pick
So you have this corner 5'9 1/2 187lbs with 4.38 speed (stats from the combine) drafted in the top of the first round... do you downgrade him because he's short....
well if you did you'd be talking about Pacman Jones the #6 draft choice last year. Funny how Tye Hill at 5'9 185 with 4.31 speed gets skepticism for going #15 while Jones goes #6 last year. The main difference is that Jones was supposed to have some return ability (though he couldn't hold onto the ball so he never returned much).
Strange word

Re: Starting Corner draft pick
I've always been said I should play D, when I wanted to play QB, everyone thought I was too big to play, but I still did, so don't listen to that size BULL because its all talent, sure height might be an issue, but hell, tye can jump pretty high can't he? he's a gem, and we all know it, its gonna be a good year baby!

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

Re: Starting Corner draft pick
No. We keep him at CB and start him and let him do his thing. He is a proven shut down CB and we need and respect that. Let him start!!!!
Actually he ran a 4.33 I think

Re: Starting Corner draft pick
He's a proven CB in COLLEGE. I believe he has a tremendous amount of talent. I can't wait to see him play. However, I'll reserve judgement on his ability to shut down NFL receivers, and about his size until we can see him in real game situations against elite WRs.

You guys sure go on tangents
Boy oh boy you guys must be bored. My only point was that Tye is the same size as Jones and probably a touch faster (but not significant difference) - with Jones being heralded as a good pick last year while the Rams have been hearing some chirping about Hill's size.
That's it - I'll take college productivity over combine numbers (for Cromartie) or potential (Williams) anytime.

Btw
BTW - Pacman's official numbers after the combine were:
CB Jones, Adam "Pac-Man" West Virginia 5094 187 4.43
His pro day numbers were:
ADAM "PACMAN" JONES ran between 4.36 and 4.40 in the 40... some had his times faster... 38.5" vertical and nine reps of 225 pounds... he weighed in at 5096, 187 pounds
Tye Hills combine numbers were:
CB Hill, Tye Clemson 5095 185 4.35 41" vertical
(I couldn't find his benchpress and he didn't run at his pro day. Also some sites reported his forty time as 4.3 but on the nfl.com site it is 4.35)

Re: Starting Corner draft pick
How many jelly doughnuts will he have to bring to the first practice?

So the Conclusion
So he is the same size, faster, stronger, and just as productive in college (as a CB) as the 6th pick from last year. Funny, if the Rams had picked anyone else they would have gotten criticized for 'reaching' with Greenway, or rolling the dice with Cromartie, or character issues with J. Williams. I still don't know why this pick isn't given more credit. especailly with the trade-down.
