Stating the Obvious, Grant Williams is a Menace!
You had to know it was only a matter of time before grant williams got bulger injured. We may have dodged a bullet if indeed the reports of the injury being only a bruise are accurate, but this was bound to happen. Its a miracle that bulger has not been killed by now.
Williams is repeatedly beat every way imaginable. Speed rush, bull rush, Glendonn Rush, it doesnt seem to matter. As i have said for weeks, he is probably the best #3 tackle in the nfl, but with the deep patterns our offense runs, he is completely unworkable.
The irony of course is that the play that got bulger hurt was by no means the hardest or most awkward hit he has taken. Its simply the law of averages. The more likely you get hit and slammed to the turf with a 300 plus pound guy falling on you, the more likely you are to get hurt.
I thought the line protected very well today. The pressure came 99% over williams and sapamamliamula. Unfortunately, with tercero out for the year and sapamamliamula learing the position, williams is really the best option we have, which is a sorry situation and does not bode well for the continued health of our qb's whoever is in the game.
I hate to beat a dead horse, but the turley injury just devasted this team from both a personnel and cap perspective. It has totally changed our offense.

All great points, GC. I don't know about the third sack, but the first two were both from Williams' side. We really need to find a right tackle to work for us.

Grant Williams is starting to make me think longingly of John St. Clair.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Thank you, I'm glad you guys see this too (Not that it's hard) "Menace" is the right term, and St. Clair is exactly who I too think of.
The only difference is St. (Swinging gate) Clair occasionally blocked someone and usually gave it up on the big plays.
Williams is a complete NONFACTOR.

I am not kidding. We need to check on Big Jackie. The last time i saw him on tv it looked like he weighed about 425 pounds, but maybe we can put him on the nutten plan and get ready for the eagles. I thought nutten played very, very well today.

Re: Stating the Obvious, Grant Williams is a Menace!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed on Edwards becoming the FS this team needs. That will free us up to spend our 1st round spot on a OT. Even if we have a low draft pick in the 1st round, there should still be a starter quality OT to be had.
I know we WANT an upgrade at LB & CB, but we NEED a new RT. For the sake of Bulger's children, who need a fully functioning father and not a brain damaged invalid that Grant Williams is bound and determined to turn him into, draft OT in the 1st round. McNeil, Brown, Barron, Ferguson, Britt, Munoz, Winston, Brooks, whoever just pick one."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

I also agree, we need a NEW RT this off season...Bulger should take out life insurance with williams in there... williams just can't handle the bull rush..... :bored:

Re: Stating the Obvious, Grant Williams is a Menace!
Munoz had shoulder surgery on Friday that's going to keep him out until late spring, meaning he probably won't see much time at the combine or anything like that. Perhaps we should keep him at the bottom of the list for now.

Shoot, that's one less to pick from. Oh well, maybe he'll fall off several radars and we can pick him in a later round.

Re: Stating the Obvious, Grant Williams is a Menace!
At this point, I'm a bit too concerned about injuries with Munoz. He had knee surgery in 2001 and, according to Sporting News, "has endured a series of less serious injuries throughout his career." Throw the latest shoulder surgery in there, and I'm just a bit too weary about repeating Turley's situation at this point to feel comfortable going with Munoz.
